I love living in the US – I just don’t love its legal system…

 

1. American cops don’t get paid to be diplomats or official (smilies) greeters.

   They get paid to arrest criminals.

   And sometimes they get hurt or even killed in the process.

   British and Irish police are a laugh. 

   They are impotent without weapons and a “killer instinct” and they run when confronted by the mildest of criminals.

   That’s probably why Ms. Bowles enjoys their pleasant company. Pip, pip--Tea and crumpets lads!

   Two different cultures look at the slime in different ways. British and Irish police want to be their pals. American cops just want to go for their jugulars.

2. Get a ticket in most states and you’ll find that the process has been so streamlined that you can pay it by mail, and sometimes even just call up the clerk and pay it by phone with a charge card. That’s as nice as any “crime and punishment” system is ever going to be.

   Ignore the ticket or the court date, and the nice part goes away. Dissing the judge with your absence will get you hauled in; so yeah, a warrant is issued.

   Let’s not ignore that our little wild thing Ms. Bowles will use this “jailbird” experience to her professional advantage. Though she may be from the toniest of the landed aristocracy, she makes her living thrashing high performance cars and motorcycles and writing about them for Top Gear, and being a scantily clad presenter on TV. That’s a pretty good gig for someone with a mental disorder and a history of excessive partying.

   So now she has extra bad girl street cred, which I’m sure will just add to her pizazz and naughty sex appeal.

3. In America only Politicians and their gay lovers are allowed to flaunt the law as you did. That should have been printed on your passport.

4. Well, golly gosh!!  Just pay the damn ticket next time.  This whining self-entitled air head is one reason why Great Britain is no longer so great.
