  1. Reminds me of the “costs to society” of smoking.  Smokers save society money by dying sooner and saving long-term healthcare costs for the elderly and Social Security costs.  But lets not get started again on that sparkling subject. zipper
I do support mandatory seatbelt laws, but only for children.  Children are citizens, and deserve protection even if their parents are drooling morons.

  2. I’m totally with you on the seatbelt laws Oink.
My parents started making me wear a “belt” in the late 1970’s- and had a friend that was killed when she was trown from a car and the car landed on her. I believe in seatbelts. What I don’t believe in is a government nanny micro-managing my life.
I sometimes go beltless to protest the Illinois nanny state.

We can’t carry guns, we’re required to wear seatbelts-the new rules about car seats are smothering-but our kids can get abortions and condoms without our knowledge.
    Fuck ‘em!
I ‘ll not be controlled by a bunch of nosy control-freak socialist know-it-alls!
I’ll choose when and where to put on my seatbelt.

  3. Putting the seatbelt on is part of starting the car for me. The habit started in the early 70’s and has saved me injuries on several occasions. Adults riding with me have a choice kids don’t get the choice. They belt up.

Pick a different protest, Barb and wear the damn belt.  grin Please.

  4. You got it StinKerr.  My daughter is from Lincoln and I’m going to show her this story from the “Star.” A seatbelt saved her life.  She will say, “SEE he was a Republican.”

I took her to Captain Jack’s last night and the band said, “President Bush wasted $40 million at his party today.” Before I left I said to the band guy, “It costs a lot to get those F-16 to do those fly overs.”

Then someone else said, “Hey, I bet this guy supports the President - me too.”

Another woman customer gave me a thumbs up.

A band would have to expect that in Florida, after all, W. won with 380,000 votes here.  They played a lot of Jimmy Buffett songs and he tried to help “Caster the Disaster” beat Senator Mel “the Uniter” Martenez (R-FL) but they all failed miserably.  LOL
