    Since I’m out of harm’s way and my extended family in Alabama appears safe, I’m watching The History Channel. Cool stuff on the space program today.

  6. Yes, the price of oil will spike at $75 by next week as Gulf drilling platforms are destroyed and the nation’s only offload port for oil supertankers is under repairs for storm damage.

    Gasoline prices at the pump will hit $5 per gallon right after Labor Day. Bicycle and motorcycle sales will surge in September.

    Arabs will get richer and Exxon will buy more ads to let us all know they feel our pain and they’re working hard to find new oil.

    Several airlines will finally declare bankruptcy and go under. Delta will be first.

    Huge population groups (in the tens of millions) will migrate to the South because home heating oil will no longer be affordable in Northern states except for rich people like the Kennedys and Kerrys.

    The economy will go into the tank and the Democrats will all chorus “We told you so”.

    BUMMER! I need a drink!

  7. Well, you can figure on writing off THUNDERHORSE. It was listing after Dennis and do not think that they got her leveled up before Katrina decided to show up. There’s a lot of deep water stuff that was already shut down and crews evaced. Old friends of mine haven’t checked in yet, but they are usually smart and evac a little early. Out in deep water (1000’ or better) the North Sea boats can usually ride it out. The smaller boats have got to run from it, so they are probably either moored out as far west as they could get or are still running west.

    Haven’t heard from Grand Isle. According to sources, Fourchon is a ghost port. The helicopter services have moved everything they can and the port has advised all the folks in port to “get the heck outa Dodge.” Venice is supposed to be pretty much deserted, also.

    Further this deponeth knoweth not..........

  8. Remember who caused this shortage in refinery capacity we’ve had for the last thirty years: DEMOCRATS in control of Congress when the bottlenecks were put into place in 1976, that’s who!
