You need to come back to the USA and join Mark Steyn. He regularly guest-hosts for Rush Limbaugh.
Mr. Steyn routinely bills himself as an ‘undocumented guest host’, no legal paperwork available. Something like that.
Steyn now guest-hosts so often that the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies now boasts a Northern Command; Ice Station EIB in New Hampshire. Maybe you could wrangle an opportunity to guest-host for Rush?

I suppose that is coming to America soon - lets not ‘demean’ all the illegal and/or legit immigrants and treat the natives even worse. Yeah what a great way to make everyone just feel peachy about themselves.
In a different form - that feeling - being a foreigner in my own country - is why my grandfather left Britain - his father immigrated from Sweden but his mother was a Brit and he was born and raised to teen years before both died in London - he was called Swedish by many and could not understand that mentality at all. It is what he said, in a 1930 sermon, what he loved about America - when he said he was an American - people did not say but your name is Swedish - you are a Swede.
Also found out - one of the family members is in a historical emailing with a member of the family in Sweden - she is sending family pictures and pictures from the town the family came from. My Uncle sent her an email that his Dad & older brother went to England in 1924 - and years later the family asked why he did not go to Sweden - he answered that he would have been forced into the military as it was required by all young Swedish men to serve.
And the ignorant Liberals in our country - want so desperately to emulate these intolerant, divisive, and conscription (i.e. for morons - the draft) countries which are now nearing extinction from massive immigration and massive gov spending.
Yeah - that’s the ticket for the US - let us be like foolish adolescents and just follow the herd into extinction.
It isn’t much different in the United States. The USCIS has a web based program called “E-Verify” to allow companies to verify new hires quickly. Regardless if they use this, or the old I-9 paperwork method, companies are legally required to verify new-hire work-status before they can start work. Citizens have to show identity documentation to prove their citizenship, or non-citizens must show valid USCIS work authorization and identity documents.
In Canada, I have to provide proof of citizenship as a new hire and my Social Insurance Number. Were I a foreigner in Canada, I’d need work authorization from Immigration Canada and proper identity documentation.
I’m not surprised this is starting to take hold in the UK, and is starting to affect things like speaking engagements. If money exchanges hands, it’s a contract/temporary hire.
None of this is going to get any better, and eventually, dealing with our own (or foreign) governments is going to look more like something out of Terry Gilliam’s movie “Brazil”. I’m waiting for the day when Western Society governments try to phase out cash and force all transactions to be solely electronic. They’ll sell it as a way to eliminate legal-tender counterfeiting, but we’ll all know it’s because they want to track and tax every dollar possible; no exceptions.
Bleagh. I’m rooting for the unlicensed air conditioning repairmen.
