  1. What are the Criteria for determining what TOO MUCH rubbish is?
Is it adjusted for the number of Occupants?
If it is Not, This could be used to Harrass People that have more children then the Norm.
I’m not going to Name any Ethic groups but I’ll let each person fill in the Blank.

An Alternative, to Control the amount of Rubbish, might be to Put forth rules that would Control the amount or type of Packaging Material used on consumer Products.
Garbage NOT put into the Pipeline to begin with Does Not need to be disposed of.

And there is always that Favorite of Bureaucrats, A TAX or Deposit on certain Items.

  2. I used to want to visit Britain - not so much now.

Wow - nanny state gone wild.

Of course we now have an energy ‘czar’ who wants to control how much electricity we use in the name of GlowBall Warning.

Even our electric company is on board - I plan to sue the first time our a/c is cut in summer - damn if I’ll have to spend hot summer days at the mall - just to keep my son from having heat stroke - and yes I do believe when we first signed on - we notified them that we have a medically impaired person and must have electricity. . .Not that it has mattered at all since then - and I’m sure not at all in this new ‘Smart Grid’ bs.

Whatever happened to - if I can pay the bill I can do it?

  3. SwedeBoy,
    Wats-a-matter from you? lol

You’re asking for logic?  From ‘those’ people? Bureaucrats?  The ppl who make the rules OTHERS MUST live by?

You sure said it true re. the darn packaging.  It never ceases to amaze me how much trouble and effort the manufacturers make us, the consumer, go thru to open some of their products.
I’ve never understood why a customer had to fight the packaging to get to the product.
Maddening. And most of it isn’t needed.

Wardmom ... careful with that line. “if I can pay the bill.” Comrade someone might be watching and listening. In cowardly new state, Comrade who knows ALL things will take note.

Be thankful (VERY THANKFUL) you folks back home still haven’t reached the sums we pay for electric here. When I first came here in ‘04, the first question I had was, how can the English afford to live in England?

  4. While we’re saying things Big Brother doesn’t want to hear....

It sounds to me as if the people of South Oxfordshire should start going over their rubbish bins with a magnifying glass.... and then with a hammer.

  5. GOF I think that approach has already been suggested. What these morons fail to grasp is where the lunacy originated. The EU has brought in waste recycling directives which Britain slavishly adopts into law. It happened a few years back when they introduced a “landfill tax” The result was a dramatic increase in “fly tipping” ie dumping trash by the roadside. Also something else that occurs to me. I used to live next door to a family of low life scoundrels all of them on state benefits. They would put out about 3-4x as much rubbish as anyone else in the street, so clearly they would fall foul of these bin nazis. However since the state “pays them” who will pick up the tab for any fine? You guessed it the taxpayer.

  6. Gawd, monitoring the trash.  What will they think of next?  Re-educating people who like soda pop?  Too much sugar is bad for you, can’t have that going on.
