  1. So, despite my name, I’m a softy.

    I dropped tears throughout.

  2. I’m sitting here laughing and blubbering at the same time. Thanks for the reminder of what is important.

  3. It should be on tv news - each new homecoming every day - remind the people of what other people are doing for them and their country each and every day - since America (actually before) began.

We went from the nightly obligatory wounded being put into helicopters and spitting on the returning ‘baby killers’ during Vietnam (I would like you to remember that Vietnam, Korea, WWII & WWI were all initiated under Democrat Presidents - so exactly who are the ‘war mongers’ politically speaking?!?) to being ignored most of the time but being used as political fodder (Kerry’s infamous ‘stuck in Iraq’ comment most notable on that).

It is a shame - that the media & the Dems have to destroy and personally attack to get their agenda through - and that helps America how? It is nice to see positive images on the military front (I’d bet big bucks that these are all mid-America towns that these are filmed in).

I keep reading that Cindy Sheehan is attempting a revival of her anti-war mongering - I suspect since The Won is in office - the media won’t be as accepting of her message this time around. And how biased is that?

  4. These men and women are willing to do violence on your behalf to evildoers, so you can sleep peacefully at night!

  5. War is pointless…

Nay, Grasshopper OCM. War almost always has a point.

    Was our Revolutionary War pointless?
Was the (misnamed) Civil War pointless?

    Let’s go back in time:

Was the Battle of Thermopylae pointless?

    Other ‘pointless’ battles:

    Tours AD 732
    Vienna AD 1529
    Lepanto AD 1571

These battles were against followers of Islam. The West was the ‘underdog’ in all of them. Islam has been attacking the West since Mohammed had his first epileptic fit and called it a ‘revelation’. These battles kept Islam at bey.

I suppose there are many pointless wars/battles. At least to our ‘modern’ eyes. A case in point is the Battle of New Orleans (December 23, 1814 to January 26, 1815). Weeks before the battle the US and Britain had signed the Treaty of Ghent. But Pakenham and Jackson didn’t know. Pointless, yes?

But, let’s assume the treaty was still being hammered out. Jackson’s victory at New Orleans would have shown Britain that the former colonies are still formidable.

  6. OCM, is there no ‘point’ that you would fight and die for?

  7. Don’t bother OCM...he’s too busy taking another toke to care.

  8. I take that as a ‘yes’?
