Hmm, quite different from Cindy Sheehan’s Response

  1. Yes they do Pieper ... mostly. One of the major MSM news channels does a daily “Honor the Fallen” segment, but knowing that station’s political stance makes the presentation seem rather snide. They aren’t doing any real honoring, what they’re doing is saying “here is another death caused by Bush”.

I’ve tried very hard for years now to see both sides of this. But reading the comments in the article shows me that there is no middle ground and never will be. The antis have not budged an inch; this is still an illegal war, Bush Lied, etc. The pro crowd is disgusted by the smarmy antics of this proposed “die-in” and offended that real names will be used.

I am not disgusted that the soldier’s names may be used. It is the truth that they have fallen; they belong to history now. So read your lists aloud, or have your little march with your mock coffins. It does not matter, not even in the short run. Those who have paid the price to lie in Flander’s fields can not be harmed by mere rhetoric.

I find the concept of a “die-in” pretty stupid though, especially considering the miniscule number of casualties we have suffered in this campaign. Had they done their theatrics during the Civil War, WWI, or WWII, then they would be there for a year reading off the names. (ack, I hate the PC uber-sensitive world we live in that forces me to say, because any person with a lick of sense would already know the following - ) This doesn’t detract one bit from the sacrifice each individual made, or the suffering of their families. It just gives a little perspective: this isn’t much of a war; it’s more a long series of very very small skirmishes.

We are in a war. It is the same war that started back in 1991, it is not a new war. Our elected representatives voted overwhelmingly to enable this action, and the “cleansing” of Iraq has been express US policy since Clinton. That the left side of the aisle has waffled, turned their coats, and changed their minds is what enrages me. One the bullets start flying you support the initiative, and the only criticism offered is “why aren’t we fighting harder, and what do you need to make that happen”? That we have not leveled Palestine and Syria yet confuses me. That we made no punitive action against Egypt and Saudi Arabia for their part in 9/11 enrages me, but I can only see the little picture.

The argument that this is an impersonal war is meaningless. It does not matter that we don’t know the names of those who have paid the ultimate price, nor the names of those wounded or maimed. Unless it was one of your relatives, you probably don’t know the names of anyone non-historical who has died in any war ever fought.

  2. Kind of off topic but I thought you guys might be interested in this since the MSM hasn’t picked up on it yet.

  3. Heck, they’d probaly have to spend a month or so just reading off the Names from 1 day in WWII D-Day..

  4. I like what you wrote Drew - however to honor those who gave their all - we should honor those who do not want their husband/wife, son/daughter’s name used for political and/or financial purposes - which when you cut to the chase is exactly what the anti-war mongers are doing.

How come the fact that faux Mother Sheehan’s group GSFP - never filed for 501c3 status (the site is gone, yeah) so why is no one asking ‘Did you return the donations?’ The same for the Crawford Peace House which mysteriously ‘unaccounted’ for the usage of some $500,000 to $700,000 taken in from the 2005 Bitch in a Ditch Tour?

It is about making enough money to ‘lobby’ Congress to get a cut and run bill passed so that the blood bath afterward can be included in the Bush Lied Millions Died LIE.

What I don’t grasp is that these dope smoking, commie loving, immoral layabouts, their hollyweird enablers and the utterly amoral msm - will be the first ones whose heads are hacked off when Sharia Law is instituted World Wide if we continue to ignore, appease and PC fight these derranged terrorists - so they should be the ones leading the charge to wipe ‘em off the earth/nuke ‘em till they glow. [Libs take note that 8 years of doing nothing - i.e. Clinton Administration - lead to 9/11 - so ignoring them is dangerous to the homeland] One can not hold the Christian (misquoted and distorted) verses of turning the other cheek, forgiving and loving thy fellow human - when thy fellow human is blowing you up and going after your children.

I know a few family members who are vehemently against their Soldier’s Name being used both pro or against. The military must be non-partisan and in the time of the War - the use of their names must be too.
