  1. That’s not as bad as Philadelphia.

  2. Yeah, all those illegal guns being smuggled in from NJ and NYC! LOL

  3. I hate to say it but if the Army gave out weapons to troops here in the states and failed to record the serial numbers or track them, I would venture to say most of them would be missing too.

  4. I agree with BobF, If I hadn’t been signed for mine, I’d have pitched it.

Just joking. The M-16 is far supperior to the AK-47. The only advantages the AK-47 has are its heavier round, and its toughness. The M-16 out does it in terms of range and accuracy. The AK-47 is a spray n pray weapon. With a little propper maint, the M-16 is far supperior. That may be the down fall of the idea in Iraq, as the Iraqi troops may not do a good job of taking care of their weapons.

  5. How quickly the Left forgets - but I know history is one of the Dead Subjects to the moonbats - this topic (our munitions being turned against us) was the heed and cry as we went into Afghanistan - of course couched in the realm of being America’s fault - we supported the Afghans in their war against Russia and those guns then turned on us in OEF - yada, yada, yada. Sama ole, same ole.

You should tag this article with the one on the VA unable to find - what is it 40,000 computers - not to mention the amount of personal data that various government agencies have lost (from state to Feds) - it happens. You secure it when it comes back and while doing that set up a better system to regulate the assignment of and management of the issuing of and traking of said weapons/equipment.

But the purpose of this article is just another bash the War/President/mistakes made etc.
And once the dnc and msm pick out the perfect ‘talking point’ - this will go into the bin only to be brought out at the next election or escalation or war vote or . . .

  6. I agree about the purpose of the article Wardmama. Although I think it may be more of a “we can’t really trust our Iraqi allies” thing. And I’m kinda forced to agree with that; I’ve read an awful lot of stories about the problems we’ve had with them - corruption, thievery, etc. I posted this because it was one of those I just can’t believe how stupid things are. Utter FUBAR! stories, which are first cousins to moonbattery. My intent was not to pick on the administration or the military whatsoever.

A couple years back I posted that our guys should sweep that country of all weapons and then supply the nascent Iraqi army and police with specially designed weapons made by US that use proprietary ammo only made here. It would be very easy to control the supply, it would be very easy to trace loses, spot the insurgents, AND it would keep some of the zillions being spent there in our country employing our people.

  7. Don’t forget about the $9 Billion-with-a-B in missing CASH! - Man those Iraqis aren’t very organized...or ARE they!

  9. Why bother to pay Iran for arms when they can get them free from us?

  10. I haven’t heard that US-manufactured guns are being used against our forces. Most likely, Iraqi forces have been taking their issued guns home, and they are being used as “home security systems”. From these figures, the typical cache would be 1 gun plus 1 helmet per person.

I remember 2 or 3 years ago, that we tried using old ex-Baathist soldiers (commanded by an ex-Baathist general) to fight against Sunni rebels. Not so ex-Baathist, more like Baathist. To a man, instead of fighting the rebels, they went: “Hi. Here’s my gun.” and gave them up! That would account for a large percentage of guns lost.
