About 2/10s of one, I’d guess. It’s beginning to look like years, or even months, might be a better measure than decades.
All it could take is a bit bigger effort to short the dollar, like the one this week, or back a month or two before the election.
Obama can’t achieve a victory without cheating…

Some of the lessons of Vietnam are:
If there is no political will to Win, It is an Immoral War.
You should not be spilling blood if you don’t intend Victory.
Otherwise what are you doing there?
Is it a Holding action intended to give the Local Government time to Standup?
If not, it is just an open ended committment with Ill defined goals and No end game.
Kind of like they said about Iraq.
The Surge in Iraq was the Game changer, But without the Anbar Awakening it would have failed as well.
When Pakistan has the Stomach to go after the Taliban, Then we might have a chance for success.
Just chasing the Taliban back and forth across the Border is foolish and a waste of resources.
To be successful we need Pakistan’s help to Kill the Taliban and leave them no safe ground to flee to.
If none of this is possible we should get out and let Afghanistan fall.
Required elements for a successful campaign:
1. The Political will to Win.
2. Good Tactics adaptable to conditions on the ground.
3. The willingness to Close with the Enemy and Kill him.
If you are missing any one of these, Hang it up and go home.

He is in the Navy and we thought that he might be OK, We’re Praying and hoping.
Being unable to give him a personal weapon, due to current Policy, I gave him a Full set of Wiley-X goggles and a Cold-Steel SRK.
I hope he never has to use the knife.

I am well aware that our Nations have enemies Both Foreign and Domestic.
And now Obama’s been given the Nobel Peace Prize. (I wish I was kidding.)
But if you look at the past winners, a pattern quickly emerges, and things start to become clear, and it’s obvious they honor the useful idiots to those who would bring about real, widespread fear, terror, and carnage.

I too have a son whom I think is about to step into this FUBAR - He has not told me where he is deploying to so it could be Iraq, but I think it is Afghanistan. My sil won a get out of Iraq card for free & worked real hard at destroying his marriage while scamming off a hump in Iraq. Now he is attempting to undo what he did - we shall see if he can make that happen.
I believed in the GWOT when it started but ever since the Klownposse in DC has done all it can to turn it into a disgrace and humiliation for the US Military. And sadly it appears neither of our CoCs ha(d)s the backbone nor integrity to stop it.
Murtha smeared the Haditha Marines and Kerry et al have lied and twisted (including Dear Leader who made some stupid comment about air bombing in Afghanistan) - our soldiers and no one speaks up to stop it. Now between idiotic ROEs and fear of prosecution - our soldiers are tied up into a winless holding action - in a country that should have simply been nuked until it glowed - come on a repressive religious cult regime, poppies as its main source of income and an open door to international terrorists - am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy and obvious cooperation of the entire population to vile, dangerous and evil practices for a few bucks to live? It has been a breeding ground for social and political failure for generations - what is the positive about protecting anyone there - they are not innocent in the very least - they are part of the problem. All in the supposed name of God - you’d think that the liberals would be more on my side (War on Drug and anti-God position and all that)!
And some 800 lives have been lost wasting time on attempting to go door to door in a country that is not worth a second thought.
Harsh - yeah well it goes with my first thoughts when I saw that second plane fly into the World Trade Center - nuke em till they glow.
It would have saved a lot of US Military lives - but we all know that they are just stupid, desperate idiot baby killers who deserve what they get. And of course now they (the Thug Administration) is going to start hyping the billions spent on defense that (gag me) could have been spent on giving Illegal Aliens healthcare and of course going to Stimulate the economy. I hate the liberal idiots with a passion and their lying, cheating and vapid Dear Leader.

Rahm Emanuel I bet...I read somewhere that the nominations closed just 10 DAYS after he took office!

Was listening to radio news last night. Macker is right about the ten days thing but I don’t think its the person he named. The fellow who nominated (whose name I never heard I don’t think) is the chairman of the committee and happens to be the second in command (unless I misheard) of something to do with the European Commission. Which of course is the EU. Sorry I didn’t have pen and notebook right there and handy. Bottom line America,
the Euroz are pleased that at last America has seen the Euro light on gorebal warming and is going to take the lead in saving the planet. So then, I would suspect that under Obama you might start seeing many of the things in place here with regard to the extremes put in place re. environment.
Based on things I heard ppl talk about and how pleased some are with O. and the things he will do if given the chance, maybe a move to Singapore might be in my best interest that is if we ever get outta probate with the property etc. Sure I get home sick but I keep thinking there may be no home,OH WAIT>>> One more reason popped up minutes ago that make me realize how much we really need to GET TF OUT OF THIS PLACE.
Mailman dropped off some mail and I tried to give him ONE freeken small envelope. He isn’t the regular guy but maybe just weekends. Anyway, he’s a chink and with that awful accent
("solly") he said he couldn’t plick up mail. Generally that is the truth. But our regular carrier will pick up when it’s only one or two items.The postal union has voted to strike nationwide, so ppl are planning Xmas deliveries now. What a mess. The service has problems with management but this will surely drive business that normally use the royal mail to go elsewhere. Then what?
