All town councils, city commissions, neighborhood associations, etc. are good for is giving sadistic twisted people an outlet for their aggression and their little tin god complexes.
They do rotten shit to people all the time and never, EVER, apologize or try to make right the stupidity they’ve done. When something like this happens to a citizen the entire council should be fired instantly and fined maybe even jailed. Whether it’s in the UK or here in the US it’s all the same. Bad stupid people doing bad stupid things to innocent people. Screw them all into hell on a red hot poker.Y’know, I was going to rant away about the callousness of the councils I’ve been reading the past few years, but… grayjohn did an admirable job of it. And the concluding sentence just sums it up. Yes.
Err if the act of paliament enabling the draconian restriction did not come into force until the next day this must be theft, the assholes who took it, did so without any legal reason or permit, it is theft, bust the bastard. I am glad to be out of all this fascist shit.

I think she should offer to let it drop.... for 2,240, the exact figure of the fines they claimed she owed. Turnabout has been fair play, by definition, for centuries, no?
Yeah and we got one of these little petty tyrants sitting in the WH. If I were her - I’d take it into Court so that the council and their contractors can explain how/why they paint a street without notifying the residents (usually around here signs go up - No Parking, Dates to and from with the Office in Charge Name & Phone #), why they lifted the car (that had to be costly) and then placed it back down on the lines (smell a little nasty ‘convience’ plot there) and also why it took them 3 weeks (another little plot to insure fines are useful amounts) to get notification to her as to having impounded her car. Yes, I know that they will ‘blame’ the holiday - big woo - they failed to notify the area of the paint - their bad, not hers.
I do however love grayjohn’s solution - it would stop this rule by petty thuggery fairly quickly. Just as I’ve always said - arrest, trial, one appeal that is reviewed and then execution for drug dealing, murderers and pedophiles - bet that they’d learn to ‘control’ themselves pretty darn quickly. ‘Execution’ isn’t a solution - maybe not, but it gets them the hell off planet earth, so they won’t be hurting another innocent nor will we be wasting tax payer money to keep a worthless sub-human alive, fed, entertained and healthy. Works for me. The politicians are quickly falling into that category - worthless, blood & life-sucking scum that are good for nothing. Predatory parasites on the humans around them.

I’m almost tempted to say, wait. you haven’t heard anything yet. But then again I know you have.
As you know, I’ve been banging on about the MPs who have abused the system and have been charging things off to the taxpayer, of which the wife and I are certainly that.
Well, a number of the blood suckers have announced that they will not run again and will step down at the next election. Boy are things different here. What that means of course is, until next year unless an election is called earlier, which ppl are now demanding, these vampires can collect FULL pay and perks and benefits AND....pensions when they leave. If they resign now, they get nothing and so they are trying to hold fast till next general election. Oh yeah .. YOU CAN’T SACK AN MP. They can be forced in a manner of speaking to stand down,but not before the next election as I understand things.
Meanwhile, they don’t even have to show up and they will still be paid all benefits and expenses and TAX free sum when leaving. Great system huh? Of course, they wrote the laws and the rules.Lyndon, if you’re there. What have I missed here. I know I had to miss a bunch and this is getting mighty confusing to an outsider. Even when the wife tries to explain it all, it’s still fiction sounding.
From the photo of the lifted up car, it seems to me she has documented proof that it was the contractors who parked her car in the new No Parking zone. So they should pay the full fine to the Council ... and compensate the lady generously for their acts. I would think that lifting someone’s car without their permission is an act of theft, even if they put it right back a few minutes later.
Indeed Drew. That is MUCH what I would have suggested. She’s got proof in pictures, she’s got the case.
