here’s a followup to american use of english. interesting if true.

 

1. Chick peas are chick peas, unless you pretend to be an Italian. We don’t use the Italian word for eggplant though ... that would be racist, far worse than calling the vegetable a Swede. Do you folks boil up a pot of Irish or roast some German when you’re feeling a bit peckish? I know you can’t snack on English Muffins and have to settle for those tan lumpy hockey pucks called scones instead ... and let’s not get started on pancakes again.

   I’m pretty certain that aubergine is fwench, or worse, Belgian. So why does Johnny English insist on the froggy descriptor?

   Most of us can’t tell a rutabaga from a turnip, and we generally only eat them on the holidays when we’re feeling nostalgic and traditional. The rest of them get fed to livestock, while we happily eat the corn.

2. Drew .... Scones are consumed with butter and clotted cream and strawberry jam. Outstanding. Trust me. Once the butter and cream do their thing, they stop being hockey pucks. Some folks pass on the butter and just use the cream.
