  2. Happy birthday Allan.  What are snake-eaters?

Posted by lisar915    United States   03/13/2005  at  02:32 PM

  3. US Army Special Forces. They are based at Fort Bragg and earned the name “snake eaters” because they train in the swamps on the huge Eglin AFB reservation in Florida. As part of their training, they are dropped out into the woods with nothing but their clothes and a few items of protection and must survive for days or weeks on what they can scrounge up. They are trained on how to find and eat everything from maggots (good source of protein) to snakes (tastes just like chicken).

  9. Happy early birthday, Allan!

After all your birthday boozing and living it up, I’m sure the 19th of March will be forever remembered as ‘The Night The Toilet Cried.’

  11. INC, if you keep it up it won’t be too long and we may be able to dispense with words completely!

Posted by Vilmar    United States   03/13/2005  at  05:07 PM

  12. Ah...if life were just so simple…

Who wouldn’t wish that the war would end?

HOWEVER, we certainly don’t need to exit, until the job is done.Realistically, the job may never be done.
Why on earth would we now want to negate the fact that American’s have given their lives? Why would we simply pull out?
Why would we humble ourselves before terrorists who would just as soon cut our heads off?
Fight terrorism where ever it is, for if we do not, it will re-visit America again and again.flag

I would much rather have been given a *wish* choice of Michael Moore being sent to Iraq, with a slingshot and his propeller beanie cap....the MAGGOT.

  13. A good paper to read in regards to Fayeteville , Fort Bragg is the Fayetteville Observer Times.

As far as this *event* ,I would gander to say that of the numbers quoted in attendance, past and upcoming, a great majority are from out of town.

  14. Vilmar, those are from our recent swing through Death Valley—beautiful.  Flowers this spring in a “once in a lifetime display,” according to Mr Ranger.

  15. OCM, yes and yes re: #16.  She changed her avatar, and you could actually leave NZ or Australia and return to Los Angeles on the same day AND earlier than when you left down under (been there, done that).  A really fast plane is not required; an Airbus or 747 works just fine.  It’s about 12 hours non-stop from Auckland to LA, depending on how kind the jet stream is with the tail wind.  Sydney to LA is about 13 hours.  Add about an hour to those numbers when going from the US.

  18. The Iraq war is NOTabout oil.

The Iraq war is about a government that subsidized terrorism and a *leader* that defied every UN resolution against him.

Why place sanctions against governments if we have no intent of calling them to the mat on their non-compliance to the resolution?

Yes, Iraq is an oil rich country, but we never went in to take control of *their* oil. My thinking on your remark/question is that *sure* we would not have had to go into , say , Africa, as we have had to go into Iraq, because first of all, they are not able to fund terrorism like Iraq.

It is a fact, perhaps an unfortunate fact, that the worlds economy is tied to oil stabilization.

No, Iraq could not simply have the continued *slap on the wrist*, for they had proven that they had no intent to comply like the rest of the world has to.

Libya would never have come into compliance if they had not seen the U.S. do anything about Saddam Hussein.

So, no....if your thinking is that we are in Iraq to *pump* oil out of it....that is truly a simplistic view.

Did we go into Afghanistan to take over the world heroin market?? duh.

ah.k. smoothing, hair, freshening lipstick...I’m calm now kiss

  23. Now to get to the main reason of my being here, beside the riveting and stimulating men on the site oh oh The war in Iraq, regardless of the reason for the troops being there, is a non issue (lets agree to disagree), oil or no oil.  I truely believe this was the right course of action GWB took; the Islamic scum needed to be brought into line with a powerful message:  The USA will not be f’ed with.

One aspect of the posted article about our #1 anti-American, MM, promoting more hatred and dissention, is felt not so much by the ordinary person, but by the men that make up the fine troops in occupation.  The questions that each and everyone of us should be asking are:

    1.  WHY does MM continue to stir anti-Americanism throughtout the world?  (My guess, if he could not make a $ from his crapumentaries he would not broach the subject; however, what better way to promote oneself and works but by being a shit stirrer?)

    2.  WHY do the majority of Iraqi people welcome the occupation? (Islamic scum from everywhere bar Iraq have a problem; very few Iraqis actually have a problem).

    3.  WHY do people listen to PROVEN liars?  And don’t anybody say that GWB “lied” about WMD’s.  If Bush lied, then so did Clinton, Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, Kennedy, Kerry, et al.  Saddam had them.  He was supposed to prove what he did with them, and he did not.  That violated the cease-fire of Gulf War I, so no further justification was needed.  The burden of proof of compliance was on Saddam, not the rest of the world.  It’s not like the US did not give him ample chance to step aside and save everybody a lot of grief.

Sorry, lost my train of thought badly, just so peeved by the continuous saga of BS being promoted for the good of the troops.  I just hope the ordinary American does not treat the returning troops as they did Vietnam Vets; that would be just too much to take.

Now, I will go eat away my anger at the wrongness of this whole situation.  My only concern is the future welfare of the troops, both those in occupation and returning.

Posted by Apathy or freedom    New Zealand (Aotearoa)   03/14/2005  at  12:36 AM

  24. OCM:  if there were no WMDs then how come the NY Times is reporting that sophisticated looters pillaged all of Saddam’s MAJOR and TECHINCALLY ADVNACED weapons faciliteis (to include nuclear)!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    They stripped them clean.

No WMDs, huh?!?!?!?!  I wonder why.

Posted by Vilmar    United States   03/14/2005  at  12:53 PM

  25. rolleyes Dear dear dear....easy answer as to why Saddam didnt use nukes ...he didn’t want to die, that bs done with ....INC’s b’day is the 31st.

pps...my avatar has been in existence longer than ED has been on here OCM....competition phooey ...I just love naked yoga poses
