  2. Set Condition “W”, secure all outside watchstanders.  The smoking lamp is lit, and rum rations are to be provided to all hands....that is all!

    (stay safe Allan!)

  5. It looks like what we went through in Raleigh two days ago.  The storm just kept hanging on and hanging on.  I didn’t lose power here, but a lot of folks did.  There was a lot of lightning and wind damage, and some cars were trapped along one of our major boulevards by power lines downed ATOP them.  Lucky no one got fried.  Summer is my least favorite time of year.

Be safe, Allan.  All best regards.

    wink

  6. Glad you’re all right Allen.  I fondly remember very similar radar images when I lived 4 hours west of you in Kansas City, MO.  I also remember seeing spots on the radar that went beyond the dark red color… If you see yourself near a black spot on the radar, get in a basement.  Really.  (Assuming of course you have power to be able to see the local doplar radar images on TV.)

  8. Hi, Uyab and welcome to BMEWS. We don’t send anything north of St Louis withoug Annoying Little Twerp’s permission. It doesn’t do to piss her off. She keeps sharks.

Hmm, looking at weatherbug the storm seems to have reformed and is surrounding my area.  big surprise  gulp This is not good.

  10. I live a few miles from Allan - my power went out at 5:45pm just as I was about to make dinner........called AmerenUE & they said power may be restored by 11pm.........Hell, I had to work today (Friday), so I called my night registration person in the ER & asked her if she would call me at 5am - of course she said “Sure”.......Went to bed & was awakened at 1am by “voices”........thought WTF & got up - it was the TV blaring away & all the lights were on all over the house.......So at 1am, I’m resetting all the clocks & setting my alarm for 5am..........These outages happen more often than not during the spring storms we get here in the Mississippi valley!!!!!!!!
