Hello New Haven. Birth place of the late and great Artie Shaw.  Something different for a change.

  1. Having known actors and others in the entertainment industry pretty much all my life, I can testify that, in all likelihood, both Kate and the photographers are telling the absolute truth.
She probably looks like a typical pretty woman in her 30s, with the usual minor issues that everyone has to deal with. She just knows how to cover it. And yes, I doubt the photographers had to do much of anything to cover. The two statements are NOT contradictory.
My bet is that 1) the operative word above is “minor”, and 2) nearly all of what had to be “covered” got taken care of by makeup and costume, and most of what was left got dealt with by how the outfit drapes and by camera angle.

It’s the same as I said about Obama “looking Presidential”. I’m a stagehand, I can make tape and paint LOOK like anything you please.

NOTE: This is not to take away from Kate’s yummyness. “Perfect” bodies and faces are only achieved through surgery. For myself, I think looking like A REAL HUMAN BEING rather than an idealized mannequin makes a lady *more* beautiful, not less.

  2. There you go Peiper, I fixed it. Not a 100% match, but I doubt if anyone will complain. See if you can spot the improvement.

  3. Drew, Yeah. I think I do.

You know, I did do that image thing. I mean I clicked it as I had done before. But nothing seemed to happen and so I left it alone. What did you do?

Grumps,, as one who has worked in the field you did,, how is it so many of the pols who run for office and have access to the kind of things you speak of, just don’t take advantage of it?  And surely not ALL of Hollywood is on the left.  Why is it that more ppl don’t learn from the world of entertainment?  That is, oratory and elocution and bearing.
It may seem phony but we live in a world of image and communication.

  4. "Moses supposes his toes are roses
    But Moses supposes erroneously”

A speaking coach and a few months at Toastmasters sure would have done W a big pile of good!

On the same topic ... I read in one of the UK online papers that the art of good speaking is being lost in Parliament. I gather even the English tune in for the entertainment value of the well sharpened words and the proper corners made by the well turned phrases. Stiffen them up for me, would you? They are our spoken language’s last bastion.
