  1. Cold beer! Never! Actually I have a couple of bottles of Sam Adams finest in my fridge, and something I recommend, though it won’t go down to well in St Louis. A fine Czech beer called Budvar. They used to call it Budweiser until Anheuser Busch put the squeeze on them. If you like lager and (in the unlikely event you can find it in the US) it’s well worth a try. Far superior to the insipid stuff they brew in St Louis. Sorry Skipper but it’s true. Anyway as you are from Alabama probably won’t be too offended. (I hope!)

The temps are pretty high here, but the humidity is still way down on what you have to endure in the MidWest. Glad I fitted air conditioning though! It must sicken my non a/c equipped neighbours to their bootlaces. That’ll teach ‘em for living on state handouts! Peasants!

  2. What, me drink that watered-down horse-piss from either Anheuser-Busch or Miller or Coors? Not on your life, LBJ!

I brew my own beer at home with my Mr. Beer kit. Prime ingredients from New Zealand and my own personal recipe that will kick your butt. It’s a malt lager that tops out at 8% alcohol and it’s dark and dry. It puts Guiness to shame.

Sam Adams is a pretty good brew if I’m out in a bar somewhere. I’ll take that over any of the other domestic crap any day. No apologies necessary, LBJ. I’m with you on this one.

You’re right about Alabama. Growing up, I visited some of my relative’s personal “brewing equipment”, usually located way out in the back woods and producing a clear liquid that could be used as rocket fuel in a pinch. Hmmmm. I wonder if they’re still brewing or have modernized and started growing marijuana. I hear it’s now Alabama’s second largest cash crop. Maybe I better check up on the “home boys”.

    LOL

  4. In much the same manner as Bill Clinton is an expert on gynecology.

    I’m tellin ya, Skipper, you’re a scream!

  5. 103deg F on my job site today at 4:00pm.
Worked on a waste water plant job site in Laughlin, Nevada for about 1 1/2 years. Every time I bitch about the heat I try to remind myself of that job site and thank God I’m not there. I was a field engineer (layout man) and one of my duties was to record temps on the job for daily reports. All B.S. aside it was always 5 to 10 degrees hotter than Vegas because Laughlin sits down in the Colorado river basin and is surrounded by hills, and the heat just bakes in there. This time of the year it was always between 105 to 120 degrees on that site depending on storm fronts. It got to the point that 105 started to feel good compared to the rest of the time, and when you start thinking that 105 feels comfortable you know the situation your in is FUBAR and you’ve been in it way too long. Only damn place I’ve been in that I’ve drank a two gallon jug of water in a four hour period and not pissed once because your sweating it out so fast.

Shit, 103deg, just a cake walk.

  6. By the way. If it is that hot in Britain, isn’t it also steaming in “Surrender Monkey Land”, the “land with the white national flag of surrender”, and didn’t the last time that kind of heat hit France thousands of people died? What the hell is up with that?
