A good example of how to lie while telling the exact truth. This sort of thing makes careful reading and critical thinking very important. How many people wouldn’t have gotten to the last line and therefore misunderstood the context of the situation? In this case, the Disney connection seems to be virtually irrelevant, yet the editor (I assume) made it a headline in order to grab attention.
This kind of thing irks me as well, and it happens ALL THE TIME. Literally every time I read a headline, or hear a teaser on the news before commercial, its always the same. I swear thats where liberals come from...all they do is read the headlines, and never the substance.
Very well pointed out too, Mr Christian, that the real truth doesn’t come out until the very last sentence of the article. Most people don’t even bother to read the whole thing. The average person in this country doesn’t have time to read the whole thing, most of them only read headlines. SO I’m sure somewhere out there, an urban legend is starting about a guy who molested children at Disneyland, while on duty....which is patently FALSE, but not what the headline would lead you to believe.
I need to go kill some empty pop cans…
