For example: Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 Billion to rebuild New Orleans.....
Interesting number, what does it mean?
Well, if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $515,810.
Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets $1,328,014.
Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,063,240.

And, according to my IDF contacts, Seattle has 8 operating tango cells including money raisers; not much fear of bombers, just people who get moolah for them. In fact, two resaturants on Unversity Way, known as The Ave, are known Hamas supporters and have Hamas symbols in them and posters of Rachel “The Pancake” Correy. Niiice.
And the Seahawks want us to pony up millions for their private business operating site otherwise known as Key Arena. Damn, getting to be time for some real “wtf are you pols doing with my money” time.

Turn your calculations around. Using 2003 numbers, there are about 131 million taxpayers and about 12 million businesses* that filed tax returns. Add in a few more for updates, and figure 145 million ‘official taxpaying entities’. Assume that every one of them pays something (even though only about 40% or less actually do) ...
$250 BILLION divided by 135 million is an ADDITIONAL tax hit of $1724.14 per entity.
I’m going to fight this bill every step of the way. N.O. has drowned; leave it to moulder and let the people move on to other places.

As for the paleoswinians, I have a novel idea: NOT ONE GODDAMNED CENT. EVER. AGAIN.
It has rankled me for years that the USA is supporting a terrorist state with huge amounts of cash. Now the terrorists are officially in control of their ‘government’. You want humanitarian aid? Send them a few boatloads of American rice and beans, some leftover clothes from Goodwill, a few thousand bags of cement, and some plastic tarps. Food, clothing, shelter. And every bit of all of it is purchased from American companies and sent there in American ships (if you can find any).
I am so damn sick of being bled dry by the government to take care of 1) foreign people who would kill us in a heartbeat if they could, and 2)our own bottom-of-the-barrel citizenry who won’t get a job.

When Social Security ovepays someone, they stop their payments completely until the difference is made up. Seems to me that that would be a good start while we finish our debate about cutting off all aid to the murdering scum that call themselves Palestinians.
I am always amazed that anyone, anywhere, especially any American, has any sympathy for the rotten S.O.B.’s.
Very quickly after reading this post I proudly faxed a frank message to my Congressional critter—I mean rep—and demanded that he tell the IRS to send me that refund. Sent one to George, too. What an outrage.

Wassamatta witchu OCM? Should we start calling you old-CAP-man? I was just saying that all that money has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is out of my pocket. Yours too if you work for a living. So I grabbed some fairly reliable numbers and did some simple division. I was a nice guy and gave the source of my numbers, so other folks wouldn’t think I was pulling them out of my ... hat. I wouldn’t call that statistical analysis. I wouldn’t call it ‘flaunting’ either.
I know durn well that the tax hit for N.O. is going to be a whole lot higher for those that have decent incomes, and will amount to just about nothing for those on the lower end of the scale, as is always the case. However, ‘on the average’ numbers are just that - an average - and as such they represent nothing more than the mid-point. But the level of that mid-point can often reflect the fiscal impact to the ‘average’ taxpayer.
As to New Orleans, if my house got blown down or burnt up the government would not be giving me one damn penny. Not one! Any recompense I’d receive would be solely from my insurance, that I had paid for myself. If I didn’t have any then tough titties on me. They are no different.
If I were in charge this war wouldn’t cost us a cent in the long run. We’re already ‘convicted’ of ‘blood for oil’ so WTH, siphon off enough to pay for expenses.
