I have known vegetarians and vegans. Neurotic fruitcakes obsessed with denying the connection between man and animals would be a more accurate description. Saying that the person has an “...ethical commitment to animal welfare” is basically a total lie as far as I’m concerned.
I agree Doc. Usually they are malnourished and more obsessed with what you wear/eat than what they do.. nosey pushy buggers..

I got such a look, a long time ago, when taken to a vegetarian restaurant. My companions urged me to give the place a try. “It’s great,” they said. I expressed my doubts. “Oh, come on,” they said, “I’m sure you’ll find something you’d like to eat on the menu!”
Not really. I tried to find the most inoffensive plant matter I thought I could stomach and ordered it. When it arrived and was placed before me, I guess my body language betrayed my obvious disappointment.
“Is there a problem with your dish sir?”
{ slight pause as I try to figure out a polite way to put this… }
“Sir?”
‘But...’
“Yes sir?”
‘But that’s what food eats.’
They almost threw me out.
