  1. Just stay out of the shopping centers and schools.

  2. Shopping centers and schools? Man, don’t even say things like that! In fact, don’t even think it. I have been an NRA member for over 40 years and know every rule of gun safety backward and forward. This rifle is purely for sporting enjoyment - a sweet addition to my collection.

And no one touches my firearms except me.

  3. I hear ya. I grew up with a gun. Got second place in the world in the Air Force in 1975 (rifle and pistol).

They’re designed to do one thing...kill. I lost my excitement for them after Vietnam. Now, even target shooting is pointless to me. I’m glad you are respectful of them.

Posted by Needtawrite    United States   02/27/2007  at  04:47 PM

  4. Yeah, sporting enjoyment.  Unfortunately, the People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornia banned this type of rifle.  I have a HK-91, but the leftist types out here threw a caniption fit over them.

Needtawrite, I am sorry you lost excitement and find target shooting pointless.  Myself, I enjoy shooting against my son at 500-1,000 yards for accuracy.  Loser buys diner usually.  A little competition keeps the excitement for me.

As for touching my firearms, unless you know the combination to my safe, you are not going to be touching them!!!  About 500 pounds of gun safe and I am about to bolt it to the concrete slab of the foundation.

Skipper, I am green with envy!!!  Wish I was there to shoot a target with you.

  5. Skipper, I agree with your comment about the less said, the better. NRA life member myself, and I don’t condone gun slobs that make it worse for those of us that want to do it the right way. As for the guys that express their own views about nonownership thats great because this is an open forum.

  7. Well you dam sure got this old farts attention!  I’m so friggin jealous…

  8. Hey, there’s only TWO positions on that safety, instead of the proper THREE. Don’t tell me you ONLY bought an AR-15 and not a proper assault rifle?  grin

Just kidding. Class III costs too dang much anyway. It looks a beaut Skip. Follow a good break-in procedure and enjoy. I love that you got the pre-ban “evil” bayonet lug and Picatinny forend, just for gits and shiggles. Heavyweight match barrel I hope?

  9. Nice hardware Skip. You’re not going to try and hide that in your pants are ya? machinegun

  10. Let’s see that is Loring AFB, home of the 42nd Bomb Wing!  Did I get it?  Those are alert pads on the north side. Who won? Me?

  11. Skipper,

It’s prettier than my Colt AR15-A2-Hbar.

Question: Did the clips come supplied with that asshat “round block” thingy that limits them to like 5--10 rounds?

And how many seconds did it take you to remove them?

  12. Happy B-Day Skipper!

Now you can officially say that you own a “Terrorist Rifle"… Who should we “terrorize” first?  Pelosi and her ilk or do you want to start with ACLU card carrying members?

I think their point values are about the same… party

  13. Happy Birthday Skippa!  Job well done on your new acquisition. Patience is a virtue.

  14. I hope you don’t plan on shooting prairie dogs with it Skipper, you know that is simply not done old boy!

  15. Hehehehe. You guys crack me up.

The new rifle was fantastic. I pushed nearly a hundred rounds through it before I was satisfied that it was broken in and sighted in. My eyes aren’t as bad as I thought they were. The range was empty so I had it all to myself. Thank God. The first 10 rounds were about two feet off center from 50 yards. That was to be expected.

It was almost dark by the time I left. Then the real fun began. I haven’t broken down an AR-15 or M-16 in ages but it all came back with a few hints. Now the new piece is cleaned, polished and well-oiled. Ready for any “prairie dogs” who try to break into my apartment.

I feel sorry for all the folks in Kaleefornia and Britain that they can’t enjoy this kind of fun.

    LOL

  16. Nice!

Where are we going shooting on my next St Louis trip?

  17. I’m mad. I had to take my birthday present back to the gun smith for a little fine tuning. It wouldn’t recock. Should have it back in time for my birthday nonetheless.
I built my M-16 almost twenty years ago. It was arround the time the military adopted the A-2. I got the A-2 barrel, but with A-1 sights. What can I say, part of the fun was building it myself.
My sons birthday was Monday. I treated him to a Remington 30-06 semiauto with 4x12x40 optics. we spent most of the day getting it sighted.

  18. cool  and happy birthday!

Nice !  I s’pose you know the old S.F. trick of taping two magazines together with one of them upside down, for a quick “turnover” when it becomes necessary… ,

Prarie Dogs, woodchucks, squirrels, jihadis, whatever it takes good_one

  20. And a Happy Belated Birthday to you Skipper!  I’m jealous of your toy!

Considering the number of hoplophiles here, think we might someday organize a BMEWS range day?

One short note, the People’s Republic of California has done their best to ban lots of good stuff (including my favorite High Standard 22’s from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s - thank God for Grandfather clauses) as well as any kind of nasty looking “assault rifle”, but there are some humorous holes in the law including the M1 Garand (now there’s an ASSAULT rifle) and the French MAS 49/56 converted to 7.62 NATO.  A change in the law a few years ago required me to remove the grenade launcher from the MAS.  The upside is that when I recrowned the barrel, my groups shrank dramatically.
