Happy Birthday Buttzville

Yes, I am so totally spoiled for bridges. This one is less than half an hour from my home, and there are several (5 +) key historical bridges to look at on the way, all within 2 blocks of the route. It’s pretty unbelievable around here. This one has its own park, which is very nice. And the Pequest River is flowing nicely and is stocked with trout.

So when I say “somewhat rare” I’m ignoring the fact that a similar example is just 5 miles away in Belvidere, and a far more famous, much larger but otherwise nearly identical set is down at the other end of Hunterdon County at Washington’s Crossing. Yeah, old George himself. Christmas surprise, 1776. And the boats for that ride came from all around here. from all the larger creeks and smaller rivers, not just the Delaware. That was pretty much our big part of the Revolutionary War, other than supplying some cannon balls and some flour (both at outrageous profit). But in other places that aren’t neck deep in antique truss bridges, yes, the double Warren is rare.
