  3. Good Ole Samuel Colt, creater of “the equalizer”, a truly Great American.  flag

Also, is this not also the 36th anniversary of The Great Chappaquiddick Splashdown ?  An example of a truly not-so great-American… The world’s oldest Juvenile Delinquent, the Runt of the Litter.

    National Lampoon Magazine crated this
VW ad parody back in 1973.

  4. This, from Wikipedia:

In the 15th century the term pistol was used for small knives and daggers which could be concealed in a person’s clothing. By the 18th century the term came to be used exclusively to refer to small firearms.

  5. Pistol
Pistoia is a town 21 miles northwest of Florence, Italy.  During the Middle Ages it was a manufacturing center for small handguns.  The pistol came to reference the city where they were made.

Not fair, OCM. Your wop heritage gives you an unfair advantage.

    LOL

  12. The last time I looked in a ship’s armory they had Thompsons and riot guns along with the issue rifles of the day. We also carried 1911’s on watch in those days. I couldn’t believe it when the gunners apes broke out the fifty cal and tripod mount, no shit, for a little training. This was on an old destroyer tin-can.

I’m hoping this bucket ship is as well equipped.

Oh, and the ossifers had swords, too.

With those fangs in the water, we may need it all.
