  1. Over 30 years ago, this was the formula for our final failure in Viet Nam.  What makes the Democrats think it will work any better now?  Is there any hope that this willful act of failure can be stopped?

  2. Dennis Prager had a very insightful op-ed on this on Townhall, com

    http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DennisPrager/2006/11/14/the_smugness_of_the_wars_opponents

we all know that blather out there about lies, none and immoral - Mr. Prager puts a real look at it.

I think that President Bush needs to stress the depth of what we are fighting and this aspect helps - we have never faced an enemy like this - one willing to turn on their own to ‘win’. It does cause one to shake ones head - because you would think that the Iraqis would stand up and fight back. But of course this has been their lot in life under Saddam for 35 years. It’s gonna take longer than 3 years to fix that.

It is ashame that the tables have turned, let’s just hope that cooler heads prevail or we are in big trouble.

  3. Peace with honour? I doubt it somehow. If the troops are withdrawn in six months all that will happen is a bloody civil war with Iran pulling the strings. What happens when Iran gets the bomb? We should give them a good kicking now. Lots of high explosive on their research centres. If they don’t cry uncle then we need to consider getting serious!

  4. Levin said there would be no real difference from what is happening with current U.S. policy, since civil war is the current trajectory.

Yeah, except that instead of a few dozen being killed daily, you’d have several thousand. Oh, its all the same thing, just the little brown wogs acting subhuman like they always do. What a SNOB. Levin is saying that civil war is inevitable, so let’s enable it?

OTOH, back when we took out Sod’em, I wondered if we should have allowed some “ethnic cleansing”. If not that then some partitioning, a la East Berlin back in the day. Neither one is a good solution.

What I fail to understand is why the average Abdul puts up with this. The terrorists causing this mess are a small minority; even their religious sect is minor. Why don’t the others turn them in? I don’t think there is much in the way of patriotism over there, not a huge sense of being an Iraqi. Call it one step above basic tribalism; my sect against yours, my village against yours. Or perhaps outright banditry, with a bunch of thugs just using sectarian alignments to further their own power struggles to become little mafioso warlords.

  6. Sadly, if we leave, everything goes to hell, and thousands die, the idiot lefties will blame Bush for leaving before the job is done.  They are looking at this as a ticket to the White House in 2 years.

  7. I was initially hopeful about Iraq becoming a modern state with some form of democracy, but that hope has faded.

I think what we’re going to have is some major ethnic cleansing pogroms of the Sunni Arabs by the Shia and then a effective partition of Iraq into at least 2 independent “near states”; a Shia ruled central and southern Iraq and in the north, the Kurds forming their beloved Kurdistan in everything but name and UN recognition.

We (America) will probably be backing both in military support and other types of “aid” indefinitely.

Also a note to all those peace-loving Demoncrats, the next big war will be Iran vs. the little Iraqs over the oil fields unless we grow the balls to tell the mullahs to back off.  All thanks to you fuckheads.
