  1. I love Lott’s prose. Having the numbers to back it up is just gravy.

more than two million times each year that Americans use guns defensively are never discussed — even though this is five times as often as the 450,000 times that guns are used to commit crimes over the last couple of years.

For every one person the Brady bunch could theorhetically save, five more will die. Thanks guys.

One of Lott’s books told a story about him and his wife applying for something (home insurance, a mortgage, etc.. I don’t recall exactly what).  The person they were speaking to started in about the dangers of handguns. Lott ripped her apart, but apparently PO’d his wife who just wanted to get through the application process.  His books are must read for those thinking of carrying.

It may be time for a “what do you carry” thread. I’ll start it off: S+W 342PD Titanium snub 38. At 11 ounces, I can’t shoot more than 50 rounds of +P at the range before I start getting blisters.

  2. Good article.
    Another bulls-eye for BobF!

  3. BobF, I think you may have meant “psychologists” would analyze you and send you away, not “physicists.” Physicists have to work with hard facts.  Psychology is an art form, and mostly a BS art form at that.

Then there’s that old saw:  Why does anyone major in psychology?  It’s the only way to get the therapy with honors.

    wink

  4. I did the same thing.  And one psych with his M.A. once told me outright that the entire objective content of psychology could be learned in a semester.  The rest of the content involves developing and polishing
your art form or “style” (meaning the BS).
