  1. Nyet nyet nyet, they are playing with words here.

I’m not sure if Americans are allowed to buy NEW AKs from the Russian factories, and the ones we buy are NOT the full auto models the Red Army gets.

Plus, the Russian model may not be the choice one to buy; I think it’s the Romanian receiver that the smart buyer wants. And so many AKs are put together over here these days out of a certain percentage of American made parts etc ... it’s hard to tell where all the bits come from.

And yeah, we buy a whole major shitload of guns over here. AKs are close to disposable firearms, like the SKS rifle is. Don’t listen to that “65 million Americans own guns” BS; there are probably half a BILLION or more rifles alone in our citizen’s possession. And a couple hundred millions pistols too. At this point I would not be surprised if the truth was that 85% of all households had at least 1 firearm, and at least 60% of all households had 3 or more. Plus ammo. Lots and lots and lots of ammo.

Barack HUSSEIN Obama has been the greatest gun salesman of all time, responsible for about an extra 20 million gun sales more than the usual 40 million sold during a normal 4 year period.

  2. Well thanks for making that task easy for us non-gun guys but I was gonna say something along those same lines like; What would a Brit know about a product he has never seen and is not allowed to own? Or some such blather.

  3. What drew said - except I thought Sarah Brady was the greatest. But I could be wrong....haven’t seen all the stats.

  4. Drudge says now the SS Administration is buying a shitload of ammo, including a bunch in .357 Sig caliber, for heavens sake? Why? What department uses the .357 Sig round routinely?

  5. I firmly believe that DHS, NOAA, and now SSA are buying ammo for the purpose of civil unrest suppression.

As an aside - where in these agencies budgets is the money for these ammo purchases?

  6. Department, nuts! Who anybody uses .357 Sig? What a pain in the ass little no-neck cartridge, and how unnecessary when the 10mm Auto and the .38 Super are already out there with at least the same power? Or even a 9mm +P+.

  7. Yep, drew. I have a Sig Sauer .40 with the additional .357 Sig barrel - just because its there and its a drop-in fit. Even uses the same clip. But Its just a novelty. I even have dies. But I’ll never reload the caliber. Who wants a pistol round you have to reload like a shoulder-case rifle round? Boo....

Again - why order the .357 Sig ammo? IIRC - 67K rounds. Who in gov’t even uses it?

Unless it was another “clerical error”.

  8. Update from SSA on Drudge:
The blog states that the SSA has 295 special agents who work in 66 offices across the United States.

“These investigators have full law enforcement authority, including executing search warrants and making arrests,” the blog post states. “Our investigators are similar to your State or local police officers.

Concern expressed in some media reports about the type of ammunition ordered by the agency is unfounded, the blog states, explaining that the .357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacked hollow point pistol ammunition is “standard issue for many law enforcement agencies” and is appropriate for the work agents perform.

OK - 295 officers divided by 174,000 rounds is 589.8 per officer. Either they have a lot of shootings at SSA offices or these officers get a boatload of range time. When I was on active duty, we qualified with about 100 rnds of .45/9mm.
