  1. Hi, I’m not Green Dragon, I’m Drew458, just making a comment in his name to test if his log in and password actually work.  And they do!

  2. Paypal is/was owned by E Bay according to the updated Wiki page.
“It was announced on September 30, 2014, that eBay would spin off PayPal into a separate publicly traded company, a move that was demanded already in 2013 by activist hedge fund magnate Carl Icahn. The spin-off is expected to be completed sometime in second half of 2015. PayPal President Dan Schulman was elected to serve as the company’s CEO.

  3. This is sad . . . very, very sad.

Dr. Susan Myers, center, salutes her late husband, Army Major General Harold J. Greene, as his remains are removed from a
horse-drawn caisson during his burial service Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery. Her daughter, Amelia, is center left,
and son 1st Lt. Matthew Greene is saluting at right with his grandfather, Harold Greene.  (Photo by Bill O’Leary/The Washington
Post).  The Major General is the highest-ranking officer killed in combat since Vietnam. Neither the President nor the Vice
    President were present.

The nominal Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama was playing a round at the Vineyard Golf Club with Valerie Jarrett’s cousin,
Cyrus Walker, the World Bank president, former President of Dartmouth College Jim Kim, and former lobbyist and ambassador
    Ron Kirk.

Joe Biden was in the middle of the third day of a week-long vacation in the Hamptons, which followed a week in Wyoming, which
was preceded by a week at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.

While America has lost a two-star General who has served in a war the president has waged with one of his patented withdrawal
deadlines, the Commander-in-Chief could not show the common decency to honor him with his presence.

This job is above Obama’s head, he needs to resign so he can play more golf. Matter of fact his entire cabinet needs to resign as
    all of them are worthless.

Obama sent THREE ‘representatives’ to the funeral of the teen who was shot and killed in Ferguson, MO. Really???  Why in

The hell didn’t he send a ‘representative’ to comfort and console the parents of James Foley who was beheaded by the butchers
    of the ISIS??

The disconnect could not be more profound.  And the racism from this president is loud and clear!  What a POS Mongrel

  4. Ok, a bit of a learning moment for all of us here, regarding the above comment.

    a) There is nothing really wrong with going off topic to turn any dull post into an open thread. Fine by me, talk about whatever you want, that’s why we’re here. I would prefer if you didn’t do this for major posts, and I’m certain you are smart enough to tell the wheat from the chaff. But I won’t get too grumpy even if you go “OT” on one of the big posts. As long as it’s something important. Right? I’m looking at you Rich K. LOL

    b) If you do put in some new information, especially if it isn’t absolutely breaking news, spend the extra couple of minutes to try and verify your story. Very few things online have only one source. Search engines are your friends.

    c) Always best if you can provide a link. You can either build one the proper html way like this, or just paste in a raw URL like this: http://www.stripes.com/maj-gen-harold-greene-receives-full-burial-honors-at-arlington-1.298353 Google up how to make a hyperlink and you can learn how in seconds. Also, the comment editor here can do it for you with the “< a >” button, easy to follow instructions, but it always gets inserted at the end of your text. Which is fine if you need a link as you write.

    d) Check your story for timeliness. The General’s funeral was a sad affair, and he was the first US General to be killed in theater since Vietnam. He was murdered on August 5 2014 by a turncoat Afghan soldier who shot up a meeting tent full of high ranking officers and officials. This happened last summer; the funeral itself was August 14, 2014, 7 months ago. Kind of old news at this point.

    e) Check your story for accuracy. No, neither Obama nor Biden attended. But Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel did (see the Stars & Stripes link above), so the conventions of honor were followed. Pretty much. Always take a look at the Google results for your story for words like “scam” “hoax” etc, and/or check Snopes.com (and we know they’re only 75% reliable), but check anyway so that you aren’t perpetuating a hoax. The internet is full of IEDs; try not to step on one. While the funeral was real, the “dishonor” story around it was a hoax ... if you accept Sec Def Hagel’s presence as sufficient.

I have to agree with Greendragon, it would have been better if Obama had taken a couple hours off his golf vacation to attend. He has not shown himself to be a great friend of the military.

Ok, lesson over. And a big thanks to Greendragon for putting up a significant item for his first official comment. We live, we learn.

  5. I believe that I can gather up my eraser and pen from the back of the class now.  Thank you for the detailed explanation regarding the format of your blog.  I will endeavor to be a more seasoned contributor.  The Greendragon.

  6. Well, lets be clear here. I run across items during the day that I assume( My Mistake ) would interest the gang here but because I digress from asking for posting privileges I end up polluting other post comment areas with my enthusiasm.Sorry if I cause any confusion using the process we use here to display our ideas on any given topic. The best part of the internet is we are all free to visit any places were we find common ground. If I occasionally break protocol I apologize. But I’m not gonna stop, it’s who I am.

  7. Oh please. I’m just laying a little bazinga on Rich K after all the ones he’s sent my way. Don’t go all soggy puppy eyes on me now. Plenty of your links are good ones.

As for Greendragon, we all fall for one of those hoaxes from time to time. It’s almost impossible not to. And so many stories are undated, which is annoying. I’m happy to see your enthusiasm. And you can put up essays here, as I emailed you, just done the way I specified.

We all rail so much here about how lousy “professional” journalists are, so it only seems right that when we take up that role we should try to do a better job. Good heavens, sometimes I spend a couple of days digging into a story only to drop it in the end, when I could have just made a knee jerk reaction post regarding something I’ve read. There’s an old acronym out there, AFCPOTI; Any fool can publish on the internet, which means always be wary of what you read. Or write! Let’s none of us be foolish if we can. Big media - the MSM (mainstream media) - runs on sensationalism. Look at Ferguson for example. Sensational sells, but not here at the cost of the truth.

“Question everything” Allan taught us, “and never stop talking”. Wise words of our founder, enshrined down at the very bottom of the blog page. Ok, actually he wrote “don’t let those bastards get away with a thing”, but you get there by questioning everything. And of course, the holy Ronald Maximus’ “trust but verify”.

Alright. Now let’s get back to our typical stories on dirty Democrats, exploding jihadis, the rolling disintegration of the UK, sweet eye candy and cool high tech gear.

  8. Is it something in our personalities that make us do this to each other Drew.
Or maybe it’s just to get out of character once in awhile.
    Right back atcha
