  1. The animated mannequins on the CBS morning show were conceding outright that Alito got through the previous day with flying colors, and one of them (mournfully) observed that he is almost certain to be confirmed.

If the MSM mannequins are packing it in already, it doesn’t look good for Fatboy and company.

Best wishes to Judge Alito for today, and Godspeed.

    wink

  2. Once again, these idiots in the Senate are proving that they are...idiots!  I’m disgusted with the low quality of people who are running our country.  Roberts and Alito are exposing them for what they are and they don’t even realize it.

  3. I just saw fat teddy coming apart, arguing with Spector and trying to take over the committee. Spector finally gave him a polite spanking. Maybe he’ll tear out his hair on the next round. He knows he’s losing. I look forward to a meltdown.

  4. Splash Kennedy - Uh, erp, belch, er, Judge Alioto, uh, er, Alitojo, uh I mean Alito, sir, uh we, I mean I have no questions for you, but I’ll, uh, I’ll brow beat you, accuse you and distort your record and lie about your history and, uh, then I’ll ask you aboiut torture. Do you support tortles, uh, turtles, I mean torture, uh Judge Aliamo?

Alito - Well, Senator, I am sitting here in front of this inquisition, aren’t I?

  7. I took some time to read liberal commentators on Judge Alito.  After my stomach settled (I wasn’t that loopy when I was stoned), I realized that the great liberal fear is that Alito will interpret the law exactly as it is written!  What a thing to fear!

I gotta admit though that Justice O’Connor (sp?) some years ago did use her own judicial discretion to permit Thompson Center Rifles to share components with Thompson Center Pistols.  She used a very practical approach and some knowledge of firearms to come up with a very decent ruling.  The big BUT is that under a strict interpretation of the firearms laws, she should have ruled against Thompson Center.  Strict interrpretation is a two edged sword.

  8. Being completely ignorant of the Thompson Center case I come to the conclusion, bt what you’ve stated here, that perhaps Justice O’Connor rose above the law and applied common sense. Sometimes a rare thing in these days.

  9. Firearms laws are a particular issue with me.  I’m one of those people who thinks that the 2nd Amendment is (or should be) a National Right to Carry license.

The problem is that it can be cited as a case of judicial activism.  It was common sense, but you can also make the same claim for the goblins in Club Gitmo having Constitutional Rights.  Now, my idea is that civilians carrying weapons and shooting at our guys in a combat zone should be shot just as soon as we’ve squeezed all useful information out of them.  Not everyone agrees with me on that.  Judicial activism is a very twitch item.
