  1. Sounds like the Music arm of the Film Actors’ Guild is hard at work again!

  2. First, a confession - I subscribe to Rolling Stone ... in spite of the Leftist, political slant the mag has taken in recent years.

What do you mean by ‘recent years’ Skipper? I did a one year ‘trial’ subscription back in my freshman year of college (78-79) It was a leftist liberal piece of crap then. I never renewed my subscription.

Shortly thereafter, I started campaigning for (gasp!) Ronald Reagan. If only because Rolling Stone mag opposed him.

  3. The Dixie Chicks rule, now, sharing that distinction with Jane Fonda as having Left the country to spout their nonsense...if Natalie had just said her piece in Houston instead of London (first) the whole controversy would have blown over...but then they would not have won the Grammys, now would they?

Given that they would not have become sweethearts of the farthest left who look for any opportunity to BashBush; no, they would have stayed in the Country Music doldrums, not have gotten any notice in New York, and quickly become barefoot and pregnant, like most of the sophisticated left who voted for them imagine Country Singers to be.

Ahhh, I subscribed to Rolling Stone until, oh, 1982 or so, and stopped reading the thing by the end of that decade...about the time my favorite music was becoming ‘oldie’. (But I do like some of Kid Rock’s stuff...) ;D

  4. Just another one bites the dust to me - wrote the Academy when they violated their own definition of ‘documentary’ to give the Land Whale one for his crockumentary ‘Bowling for Columbine’. Now I have to go write the Gramacademy and tell them that they are off my list too.

Don’t care about your politics - that is not what I’m paying for. These women seem to thrive on pissing off people (Natalie did her Toby Keith bash too). Well you know what - I prefer to listen to music. And I haven’t been impressed with whats come from them in a while. It is a shame, but I am beginning to believe that the only thing keeping the Chicks going is their anti-Bush bashing. And that doesn’t deserve a Grammy.

I see more and more, that these awards shows are pathetic pats on the back to make insecure people feel better about themselves - it is getting worse (what the heck is BFATA? saw some award was given by them) because they have shot themselves in the proverbial foot with their political stance. The left might love them - but it proves that majority and buying power doesn’t rest with the left. And the fact that their films and music are expressing that political/philosophical and too liberal views which then make them flops. . .Expect more such worthless award shows (the Emmys should be a hoot - how many ‘news’ catagories are there?, bet there is a way to make sure all left network/shows win big)as the liberals and left have to prove to themselves that they are important and worth listening too.

Still have to ask when do we (sane, moral, rational people) get to shout Enough?

  5. Hmmm, never did like anyone who masturbated in public and sadly all the Oscars and Grammy’s have turned into a perverse display of liberals engaging in a public display of mental masturbation.

  6. Serr8d is right when he said about Natalie shooting off her mouth in London.  You don’t bad mouth the leader of your nation in front of a foreign audience.

My wife watched the Grammies and when it was over, I watched where it said who did the voting and how it was done.  I realized that the Dixie Chicks winning was a jab at President Bush and Country Music Fans.  Skipper was right, their music didn’t sell well and their concerts were flops because Country Music fans don’t put up with unpatriotic crap in foreign countries.

  7. Kirk and I must be on the same wavelength.  Yet another confirmation that time spent on watching these Hollyweird PDSAs (Public Displays of Self-Affection) is time better spent working on cars, computers, shooting skills improvement, or some other productive endeavor.  In my case, I spent last night performing with a local community jazz band, playing real music, not this crap that is “award-winning” these days.

  8. Oh, come on. The Grammys ARE NOT Politizised! There’s no basis for a comment like that.

By the way, the Grammy for the BEST SPOKEN WORD goes toooooo!: JIMMAH CARTER!!!!

I’m not making this sh1t up!

  9. Gee Skipper,
I missed all this bullshit as it was my night to press my shoe laces.

  10. Grammy voters aren’t the people who aren’t buying their records or concert tickets. No one has ‘forgiven them;, as the local garbage can liner was saying.
