  1. Columbine doesn’t fit.  The local cops and I suppose FBI cover things like that.  There was a good point about the configuration being set for concealment.  Keeps it even more interesting.

This doesn’t make much sense.  At least when the BATFE bought mil surplus OV-10 Broncos where and how they were going to use them was obvious.  Of course not obvious is why the BATFE is getting involved with the drug trade.  Why are they getting involved in the DEA’s job?  Or are they....

  4. Oh,OK,I see. The general needs an army well armed to fight those lil kids with those drawrings of guns and shit.
Hey you little bastard, drop the crayons and construction paper.Lay down those plastic scissors and back away from the officer.
Thanks for the heads up Doc.

  5. OK, it makes sense that they have an Inspector General’s office.  I can see where there could be issues within and concerning the DOE that might require oversight and investigation.  Now tell me why they need their own armed police force?

Just at the federal level, we have the F.B.I. and the Federal Marshalls.  They are both generalized police organizations tasked with investigating and enforcing the entire spectrum of criminals.  These are not light weight organizations.  They have powers to investigate and arrest anywhere within the U.S. or its territories.  (This isn’t including the DEA, ICE, BATFE or any other specifically organized force.) They are well armed and well trained.  Now why does the DOE need it’s own armed force?  It’s understandable that they might need specialists to handle different phases of investigations, but after that, why their own armed force?  Don’t they play well with the FBI, U.S. Marshalls or even the local cops?

With the DEA or the BATFE, it makes sense for them to be well armed and well trained.  Drug dealers and illegal weapons merchants are famous for being nasty and well armed, but DOE?  What are they dealing with?  Homeroom teachers taking home pencils?  It doesn’t pass the smell test.

Much of this may sound petty, but something here just isn’t right.
