Church President passes away
It’s always a sad thing to lose a good leader. I’m sure his flock will miss him.
Archbishop Christodoulos, leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, also passed away this morning. Cancer took him; he was only 69. He had made great strides trying to heal the old problems with the Roman Catholics, and was a strong voice for keeping faith alive in Greece. He met with Arafat and Abbas some years back to ensure the sanctity of the many shrines in Jerusalem and the West Bank, but it was his meetings with Pope John Paul II in 2001 and Pope Benedict XVI in 2006 that he was best known for.
Saw that on Fark.com. Church trifecta now in play. That’s Fark…
I expect that Gordon B. Hinckley will be remembered for Temples. He championed small part-time Temples all over the world. Got one now here in Columbus, Ohio. Don’t have to travel to Salt Lake City anymore. Can receive the sealing rites and administer to the dead in your own backyard.
IMHO, that’s pretty cool.
God Rest Ye, Gordon B.
