    probably 30mpg (diesel) on a US gallon. There are times when people need big trucks, but the rest of the world seems to manage with 2 or 2.5 litre turbo diesels. Only North Americans seem to purchase 6-7 litre engines to do their shopping.

  2. Nice link ... nasty comments. I’ve been out of the auto market for a long time; I did not know that VW has garnered such a terrible reputation for poor reliability.

    And I gather that the small truck market is a confusing niche in the USA. They cost too much for what they get and for what they can do, but for hardly any more cash you can get a full size truck that can do so much more, but at the cost of greater fuel consumption.
