gonna need a bigger sky

 

1. Looks like fun. Not much balloon action local here but I do get to see the F-15’s rip into the sky from the PANG base here in the area. We are only 2 miles from the Airport and Airbase in connected.

2. Close enough to be good and loud; the sound of freedom. Still, not quite as good a sound as a big V12 chewing up the sky behind a 11.2 foot prop.

3. Great post Drew.  Well described.
   We had lots of them floating over us in Palm Desert.  We may have been fairly close to their launch site ( just guessing at that ) because they were so near the ground. Some were sponsored by local real estate people. Sometimes though, it could get pretty noisy.

4. And a happy shout out to readers Tony P and Thor H who figured out that the airplane is a Piper Cub. More specifically, it appears to be a Super cub, with the covers over the engine cylinders removed.
