  1. Ah yes, the weatherman.  In any other job if one was wrong 90% of the time, they would be fired.

  2. And ignored. I am so po’d both of the magazines I get (one home/garden, one faith based) went off on a green piece this month. The articles that do green supplies, green gardening - to a degree I can take. A lot of it we do anyway as we are poor and I’m not spending a gazillion on the latest new age smelly cleaner when bleach and amonia do the job. And we don’t do chemicals in the yard/garden. It was the garbage extolling the virtues of light bulbs and ‘doing our part’ drivel that is way over the top.

People like us never get the credit we deserve - we don’t eat out often, I cook from scratch (less packaging, chemicals etc) and we grow a portion of our own (which is no trucks, chemicals, or packaging). And therein lies my biggest gripe about the whole Glowball Warning hysteria going on right now.

The King of ‘TheSkyIsFalling’ Glowball Warning has a Nashville home (built in 2006) which is 4 times the size of the average home built in 2006 - or around 10,000 sq feet, and last year he consumed 20 times the national average of electricity, he owns stock in a company that drills oil (gasp)in ‘environmentally sensitive areas’, he may or may not even drive a hybrid or probably is passing off his son’s as his vehicle, owns 3 homes - family farm (which mines zinc - I never knew of a ‘farm’ that was actually a mine), the home in Nashville and now a condo in SanFran, buys ‘carbon offsets’ from a company that he owns (got to give him credit for the two-for-one scam), and jets around the world to belittle his fellow citizens. When he is THE poster boy for rich, fat, hypocritical and two-faced liberalism in America.

Since I won’t change much in my life (we are carbon neutral - heck we don’t even register on his faux carbon useage rating scheme, oops scale) until the King of Hypocrisy explains why when as VP he did almost nothing to use the 2nd most powerful position in the US to make a difference and when he himself actually makes a valid attempt at becoming really, truly carbon neutral.

I will not hold my breath that Al ‘GlowBall Warning’ Gore will change a thing. Or accomplish anything beyond raising our taxes for fake solutions to a fake problem. Typical liberal scam.

  3. When computers can accurately predict the weather 2 weeks out I will steal the source code, make a couple simple mods, and take over the stock market in a month. I think the weather folks are doing a good job being mostly right over a 4 day period.

I notice that the article doesn’t say WHICH humans, only that they feel it was caused by “industrial activity”. If you’ve got to blame someone, blame China, which is where everything is made these days. Plus they’re burning all that coal, enough so that their soot can be found in US atmospheric tests. Damn them, if only they’d signed Kyoto! Oh wait, they did. Too bad it doesn’t apply to them, with only 20% of the world’s population.

And given the rather wobbly state of US weather data recording sites, I’d say that the 7/100ths of a degree “trend” they’re calling is well within the error margin of their instruments’ ability.
