  1. Yeah, yeah, yeah - those pictures don’t show that you drive a few - and it is the frickin’ desert. Been there - more than once. Try the drive to Ft. Irwin - you drive at about 100 simply because there is nothing there and you can’t hit a damn thing and if you run off the ‘road’ - so what just veer back on. The west part of TX is that same way - nothing to see, nothing to hit, nothing but dry, barren landscape. Lovely drives - at least in MT, ND, SD or WY it’s the same type of drive - but you can see grass, trees and an occasional flower!

  3. Wardmom .... YES to the beauty of places you mention and most especially my favorite from some 50 years ago, Montana.  Except in winters of course altho I think I could survive those pretty well.  Wife however another matter re. large snow and all that entails.

Palm Desert tho really is nice and there are loads of places in area that are pretty. I guess. But yes, it’s desert. Someone wrote me that the temp. has been in the very high triple digits this week. Heck, at Sun City you’d hardly ever have to leave the community if you didn’t feel like it. Everything but the market is right there. Even a post office. And the market was only across the road.
Anyway ... I just posted to help our “blog father” stay cool.

Actually, while living there we didn’t do that much driving to other places where we had to drive huge distances of barren rock and sand.

And from Rich another laff and another expression to steal. Blog Father huh? OK.
Will add that one to Pakistan North to be used as required. lol.

  4. Go on, make fun. It’s Ok. I was out working in the sun yesterday afternoon, and while it was plenty warm, it felt like a not so bad day compared to the day I wrote about. Turns out it was 96 here yesterday afternoon. Which means it had to be up over 100 with nearly equal humidity. Real Gulf Coast weather in NJ. I checked, and it was.

I’ll take that desert heat, dry as yesterday’s toast, any time.

Today it’s cool and slightly rainy. Pure heaven.
