  7. In Germany, the toilets are different than the bowls we have here in the states. There is a “platform” on the bowl, which creates SPLASHING pee all over the bathroom when a man stands to pee. To miss the platform with ones’ stream, one would need to be proficient in yoga.

What excuse have you men here in the states?

  8. Go here, to understand the difference between our American standard bowls and the German “shelf” models.

  9. Thanks Deb, who’d of thunk? Finally I know the the answer to one of those life long nagging questions.

My favorite Uncle gave me an all expense paid trip to Germany when I was much, much younger. I remember being told not use the local toilets if I could help it.

As you’ve probably figured out I never did cause I never knew that they were different. I lead a very shelterd life back then…

  10. Having visited Germany back in 1990, I don’t recall any difference in the toilets..........It seems to me that we vehemently argued the toilet seats up or down awhile back on BMEWS............I visited Eastern Europe (Slovakia, Chech Republic, Hungary & Poland) back in 1993 & my most vivid memory is that one was issued 2 pieces of toilet paper when one visited a public restroom & they were like sandpaper.......ouch!!!  Both my friend & I carried with us those little packages of kleenex on our outings & we each brought a roll of toilet paper for use in the hotels- a little bit of comfort from home!!!!!!!
