To be fair to Orde he was in charge of the Northern Ireland Police Service who unlike cops on the mainland are armed, and have faced I would venture to guess rather more grueling conditions than the average US sheriffs dept. (excluding shitholes like Chicago, NY etc.) Aside from Oklahoma City I don’t recall too much in the way of domestic terrorism in the US over the past say forty years. Whereas in Northern Ireland it was until recently a way of life. So I would not be dismissing him out of hand.
