Germany’s suicide note?

  1. And people are surprised? The nominal story is that they’re refugees fleeing from a genuinely savage sectarian war. The idea that each and every single one of them would get along should be alien.

Still, at least the Belgian situation has some hope. One of the refugee camps got dismantled, and say what you will about the bleeding hearts but at least they’re offering to put the Asylum Clingers in on their own home. I mean, even if a lot of them will want to suck off the public dole because of it at least they’ll have to split it with their new guests. We’ll see how long those hearts be bleedin’ now…

It could be worse. We of all people should know this because it WILL get worse before there is any chance for it to get better. If only all the “refugees” were taken care of by that lot.

Now for the obscure historical throwaway few people care about…

Well, if the people want to put an end to all this madness, they might return to a very good idea Germans had from the 18th to the 20th century.

They were known as Freikorps. Or Free Corps. Very effective I’m led to believe.

Main reason you’re probably led to believe that is that the Freikorps had a ludicrously overblown press (like most of the other things shilled by statist tyrants). The truth is they weren’t very good.

They preformed… *adequately* in 1813 against Napoleon’s French and their local allies, but this was with the help of hordes of regular troops coming down on them after the Grande Armee had been bled out in Russia and Iberia. Most of the time they tried to take the field alone before that date the French handily crushed them.

The one time they indisputably went to the field for German liberties in the 1830’s and 1840’s, esp 1848-9 (Also the period that is given the very least amount of press by the usual suspects- the Kaiserreichs, the Third Reich, etc- that hyped them up...I wonder why?) they more or less got massacred by their own governments and armies right along with the non-combatants. Seriously, it is both embarrassing and horrifying to read a 600 man unit be comprehensively defeated by 137 while only killing two of the latter. Especially considering what it led to.

And finally during their last blooming after WWI, they were not that impressive either. Pretty much their only significant success was against Polish militias much like themselves (but almost always without the equipment or expertise) in Silesia. The Western Allies didn’t so much defeat those on the Western Fronts trying to organize as utterly bulldoze them on the way to occupying the Rhineland. In the Baltics they managed to defeat a Soviet detachment that was comprehensively demoralized and neglected by everybody, then tried to destroy the local independence movements, and promptly got defeated.

This sums things up pretty well http://pygmy-wars.50megs.com/history/latvia/latviaintro.html The Freikorps were never as effective as even the American Minutemen or French Territorials, and we know precisely what kinds of problems they have.

They can certainly help, but it isn’t going to be a solution.

  2. Well, my education continues.

Turtler, seriously.  If you haven’t already done so, you should write a book. And hell yes I’d buy it.
