Might work out to savings of £43 or £46 a year. Which of course is eaten up by loads of other things, like the increase in VAT recently. Wife says she paid a little over £6 about two weeks ago. Imp. gal larger then US but still. 6? Yikes.
And that isn’t even the really bad news, bad as it is.
1 imperial gallon = 1.2 us gallons.
All that socialism doesn’t come cheap you know. Trouble is since the war (WW2) the public has been given more and more handouts from the state and they are addicted to it. They are now considering combining income tax with national insurance. So that will be 20% income tax plus 11% NI or if you are a higher earner its now 50% income tax plus 11% NI though there is a cut off point on NI contributions, but as I have never made it into that bracket I have never bothered to find out where it is. Oh and 20% “value added tax” on anything you buy in the shops, apart from most food and children’s clothing. Socialism is an expensive lifestyle.
Corporations don’t pay taxes. Corporations collect taxes from their customers. My guess is that pump prices will rise due to higher taxes, not any market forces.
This isn’t rocket science. Why don’t people understand this?
Christopher - it’s willful blindness. If they admitted that they understood it, then the blame for the price increase would clearly be on the government, and they wouldn’t be able to blame EVIL BIG OIL.
US and UK are nearly as ready for revolution as North Africa.
