  1. They should be made to walk the plank attached by the neck to six feet of rope.

  2. Got that right. Glad to see France (I’ll give them a capital “F” and even spell their name right on the occasions that they deserve it!) was unwilling to be upstaged by the Malaysians.

But there is still a problem with the article. It should not read “where they will join another six captured earlier”. It should read

the pirate’s broken corpses were thrown in the same pit to rot with the other six pirates previously executed. In an act showing that France is taking this seriously, the entire village of Eyl has been burned to the ground, “pour l’encouragement des autres” as the French like to say. Eyl was the fifth village put to the torch so far this year. Members of the multinational antipiracy force have put the word out that several freighters are being used as heavily armed decoys. Interdiction efforts continue with Navy vessels stopping and searching every small vessel they find, and sinking those found with weapons aboard on the spot. Pirate attacks are down 85% in the region since this plan, Operation “marcher sur la planche” was initiated.

Commanding Admiral Jacques Bon Nuit issued the following statement: “Piracy is an old time problem, so we are using an old time solution. And it still works.”

Damn, that’s a news story I’d love to see!

  3. I think I’m really beginning to like this Sarkozy fellow.

  4. "after receiving information that the pirates were approaching a highly-protected coastal base, where rescue efforts would have been far riskier.”

The pirates have a “base” that hasn’t been burned to the ground/waterline?  WTF?

“In June, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution authorising foreign warships to enter Somalia’s territorial waters with the government’s consent. However, at present very few foreign warships patrol the area.”

Time to put a little task force together.
