Freedom of speech seems to only apply when it suits the P.C brigade.

 

1. ” why is it wrong to acknowledge it? “ Um, yes. Never be the first one to announce that you’ve stepped in poop. And, to be a bit raycis in the English Way, “good Golly”, comparing those movie apes to actual people! How dehumanizing. Even if Mooch rather does look like Zira from the original POA films, but with poorer choices in wardrobe.

   Pretty sure that when these riots happened, we had a news pic of the crowds posted, and by delightful coincidence next to the crowds there was a bus, with a billboard on the side for the then-new film Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Seemed more than apt to me at the time.

2. When someone of a particular race lives down to the worst stereotypical imagery of their race, at that point, racism may be truth. 

   It comes back to the nature or nurture argument.

   Is the disgusting stereotypical behavior a result of a genetic predisposition to behaving like savages?

   Alternately is the behavior a learned behavior from decades of a welfare state and poverty pimps making a living by stoking a victim mentality?

   So, right now, discussing the possible inherent inferiority of a race is honestly up for discussion.  So are almost all alternative theories.

   As well, racial or not the imagery of a savage attack by dark, howling monsters gives us a pretty good visual idea of the situation.  The description is not technically racist by itself and even has some resemblance to German reports of Russian attacks on the Eastern Front.
