Well, one thing you can say about the donks, at least they are consistent.
The prison camp issue is the one claim the Copperheads made in those days that was mostly true. It was terrible, and it was terrible on both sides.
North and South were overwhelmed by the numbers of prisoners taken, neither side had allocated sufficient resources to the task, and both sides were unable to keep military/civilian resentment at bay. Even with all of that - and prison camp in that war was about the closest thing to hell on earth that’s ever been in this country - I’ve not heard of allegations of torture from any of them. I could have missed it, but I don’t think it was really there. Daily life was torture enough.
I don’t think its fair to equate Gitmo with Civil War prison camps. If it was, at least 1/2 of the internees down in Cuba would be dead by now.
Ahhhhh, but Drew, you know what Andersonville was like and so do I. The Moosies only know they need to bow to Mecca and have their Koran. Plus, they know how to use attorneys, manipulate the US Constitution and pursue legal challenges until they are freed by a bunch of pussies on the Left.
They have yet to figure out what their lot in life would be if we stopped giving a shit and treated them as they would treat us. They have no idea the levels of barbarity we can stoop to if forced. We conquered the world not by being nice. Period.
It’s there. Just buried underneath a thin veneer of civilization. If they continue to force the issue and bring out the worst in us, we will have to hide our heads in shame for a thousand years when the dust settles - for they will have ceased to exist. I’m sorry but that’s the way it will have to be.
So mote it be. Unfortunately.
