  1. Good luck Ms. Manhart, at least you no longer have to put up with the AF looking down their pointy nose at you.

  2. They also took a stripe, making her a Senior Airman.

Yup, she won’t have to put up with those pesky rules and regulations she swore an oath to uphold.  In talking with some female Air Force NCO’s, they feel she has set them back in the progress they have made to overcome the stereotype of military female as nothing but a sexual plaything.

  3. Thank you BobF! Exactly the point I would make. It took a long time for women to be taken seriously by the AF. If she wants to get nekkid and pose she she doesn’t need to destroy the progress we women have made.

Of course, if she doesn’t have any more respect for her children than to expose them to the school yard teasing thats sure to happen some day, then I doubt the thought of respecting her oath of enlistment never even crossed her mind.

  4. SSgt Manhart has decided that her desire to be seen as a sexual fantasy is more important than her responsibilities as an Air Force non-commissioned officer. And now that she has been criticized for her actions, she has “lawyered up” and decided that this is a Freedom of Speech issue. It is not. She has the freedom to say or do whatever she wants to do. But Freedom of Speech is not the same as Freedom from Responsibility or Freedom from Consequences.

During her career, she had earned the opportunity to serve as a drill instructor. This is an exceedingly important job where NCOs serve as leaders, mentors, and disciplinarians. They are, in effect, the first symbol of the professional Airman to the young men and women that they train at Lackland. To present yourself a sexual object is inconsistent with that challenging and vital responsibility. Removing her from her position of authority is the right thing to do.

One of the challenges women have faced in the military over the last 50 years has been to be fully integrated and respected as professionals. To often, in the past, some were viewed as a “weaker” partner who was useful only as decoration. SSgt Manhart has chosen to identify with that role rather than the one most of her sisters hold.

SSgt Manhart has Freedom of Speech. That is one of the values that she has served to protect. But she has violated the core values of the US Air Force. By posing in Playboy, she has decided that her wish to be desired was more important than her duty to be respected. This is clearly not Service before Self.

  5. I am beginning to wonder (ok, perhaps it is too much reading of leftist lunacy writings but perhaps the National Guard is being ‘salted’ with these liberal loons who then purposely set out to do things to bring dishonor and disgrace unto the Armed Forces and when punished by violating the very rules they swore to uphold they start screeding the ‘talking points’ of the left.

Ok, back to rational thought - someone this stupid does not deserve to wear the uniform, she is a disgrace and the AF should be happy to be rid of her.

[Still think that those pics were touched, re-touched and ‘photoshopped’]

  6. Most women in the military are extremely professional and certainly able to perform any mission to which they are assigned.  Manhart has made it much more difficult for them to be accepted for the professionals they are.

Spike72AFA hit the nail square on the head.  Manhart wanted to be a sexual object to millions, not a professional NCO to whom enormous resposibility and respect is due.

Apparently, being a sexual object for her husband was not enough for her.  What a role model for her children.

I always had the upmost respect for the female troop or officer that pulled their own weight and acted in a professional manner.  We all had to depend on each other.

  7. "Freedom of Speech is not the same as Freedom from Responsibility or Freedom from Consequences.”

Yup, leave that “You just listen to me and STFU if you disagree” attitude to the Dixie Chicks and all the other petulant child-minded actor/singer types who bitch when people don’t fawn all over their idiot political and social ramblings. They have an excuse, tho, in that everyone bows and scrapes to them all the time; military DIs and TIs should hold themselves, and be held by others, to a much higher standard.

  8. Wardmama, I doubt that Manhart is a plant, just self centered and deluded. Watada, on the other hand, is a plant who purposely took a dive, but was too ignorant to break the correct article in the UCMJ, 88 rather than 87.

  9. What a bunch of kaka!

She posed nude for a magazine the AF sells inside its Base Exchanges. Military members can look at nude women but God forbid if one of those nude women is one of them. Oh the horror.

I seriously doubt the actions of SSgt Manhart has or will have any negative repercussions on females that wear the uniform.  The AF sends a clear message against sexual harrassment; give male service members some credit, 99% understand treating a female like a sexual object is wrong.

The AF blew a perfect oppourtunity to utilize SSgt Manhart as a shining example of a physically fit warfighter. Unfortunately she’s gone and the chubby ones remain.

She was wearing the uniform when posing.  Unlike in the civilian world, the military owns you for the duration of your contract.  What she did was conduct unbecoming and they hammered her for this reason.  She also undermined her authority with the basic trainees which as a TI pretty much makes you useless.

    Oh, really?
