The Mosquito is my all time favourite aircraft. I keep meaning to buy this book…
but it is a tad expensive. Some years back I was out in some woods near an old RAF base when I heard the unmistakable roar of two Merlins as a Mosquito took off. Sadly the aircraft crashed a few years later killing both crew.
Nice Toy.BTW, I like how Drew handles the tech and gun Pron and Peiper does most or all of the actual Pron.
What a team,what a team.
Normally I send this to Drew in emails but my email is on the fritz so:
This afternoon, President Barack Obama held a White House meeting with the last Democrat to hold that office, and the only Democrat to win re-election to that office, Bill Clinton. After the meeting, the two held a brief press conference in which Obama offered a quick introduction before turning the Q&A over to Clinton. . . . And then, an extraordinary thing happened. Obama said he had kept the First Lady waiting for half an hour, and told the press they were in ‘good hands.’ And he left the briefing. Clinton did not. The former President continued the press conference, the logo of the White House behind him in what looked like a flashback to his pre-Monica days.”
Those rumors that White House insiders are worried by Obama’s disengagement just got a lot more credible . . . .
GEEEEE, YA THINK??????????????
LyndonB: Me too. But I also hear that there are no Mossies currently airworthy, which is a terrible shame. If I won the lottery (please God!), I’d have a repro Mosquito built and learn to fly it.
Lyndon, I’m sure you heard that Tommy Broom passed on in June of this year.
It’s quite the obit. The man was a real hero.
The Brooms took part in another daring attack on New Year’s Day 1945. In order to stem the flow of German reinforcements to the Ardennes, the RAF mounted operations to sever the rail links leading to the area, and the Brooms were sent to block the tunnel at Kaiserslauten.
They were approaching the tunnel at low level just as a train was entering it. They dropped their 4,000lb bomb, with a time delay fuse, in the entrance and 11 seconds later it exploded, completely blocking the tunnel – the train did not emerge. Tommy Broom received a Bar to his DFC and his pilot was awarded a DSO.
Talk about Dereliction of Duty.
After reading about this I think I wet myself:
