  1. Does this smack of Guatemala and Arbenz and the United Fruit Co. back in the early 50’s?  Remember THAT little gem?

  2. The military does not like Chavez, they are
merely tolerating him. As soon as he steps
on the wrong toes, like some fat cat’s or a
neighbor, he’s dead. It’ll cause some bit
of trouble internally, but it won’t last too
long and there’ll be a more rightist regime
in place. Chavez has narrowly missed getting
dead from within several times. Only his
pandering to the stupid poor sustains him.
He is on thinner ice than any ruler I can
think of in the world today.

  3. Yes boys and girls...Communism still exists in this world and it must inevitably die a terrible death. Eastern Europe got off lucky, including Russia! There was only one violent overthrow and that was in Romania.

Since today’s Communist regimes exist for the most part in the Thirld World, they will go the way most Third World governments go.

    Violently!

  4. … vowing to defend the country if the United States tries to invade.

What the ?? Has anyone seen Al Gore lately?
He and Jimmy Carter must be giving real estate seminars down there or some such shit.

Why would we even… oh never mind...this is insane.

  5. I thought—I really, really thought—we were done with buffoons like Chavez, and Castro—but somehow they manage to not only influence moonbatism on their behalf, they actually gain control of petroleum --

    *sigh* --

And, did I have more time, I’d wax more eloquent on the nominally moonbatist theme (but accidentally common-sense theme, and therefore the right one, *S*) of common-sense energy --

With which we might wipe up our streets with the Chavez’es of this world --

--Namely, OWNING solar and wind energy—WHICH is the wave of the future --

-- But, alas, all I can do is cough out what a buffoon Chavez is, and pray like hell enough Venezuelans think likewise ... *S*

  6. Castro helped Chavez by importing Cuban Doctors for the poor.  The poor are always suckers for free Doctor visits.

Michigan’s Governor is more complicated.  She is from Canada and her first actions are to tax somebody.  So she wants to have a new tax on Doctors to raise hundreds of millions of dollars so that Michigan can grab matching Federal Medicaid funds, sick.

In reality she is making all Michigonions Doctor Co-Pays go up.  PLUS, she wants to raise taxes on insurance premiums.  PLUS, her husband changed his last name to hers excaim

The Canadian “Fur Trapper” Governor’s mission statement is to drive all Michigan manufacturing jobs across the border into Canada.  Wake up people flag

  7. Even after Chavez lands in his designated circle of hell, the problem he represents will remain.  Venezuelan politics has been caught between oil and the shadow of Juan Vicente Gomez since his death in 1935.  It is a difficult trap to escape.

  8. Don’t they need to get promoted into the “Axis of Evil” before we can invade them? I think Syria is up for the open slot there.

  9. Yeah, Stan, but it is hard to convince stupid and ignorant people brainwashed by communism that we are not YET interested enough in them to invade.  No matter how often we tell them they are not on the list they will not believe us.  grin

That said, a strategically executed “wet job” on Castro, Chavez and Lula would stop a lot of this nonsense.

  11. Except where it was imposed from without at bayonet point, Marxism has only been successful at taking root where the great bulk of the population was dirt poor and butt-ignorant.

whipping up hate/fear/revulsion for some exaggerated/imagined external threat is an old stand-by for tyrants trying to deflect public attention from internal problems and as an excuse to ram thru programs aimed at tighter government control over the populace.

(no.. the irony is not lost)

  12. Re: land redistribution.

Bets on whether Chavez lives out the year or flles the counrty bfore the year is out?

Re:  the British-owned 32,000 acre ranch.
A hundred years ago, there would have been a couple of battleships flying the White Ensign off Caracas harbor… just as a reminder… ah, the good old days…

But then the US would have gotten its back up over the whole Monroe Doctrine thing and .....

Wait a minute! A hundred and TEN years ago.. that DID happen… I’ll be damned! wink

  13. LSP:  “whipping up hate/fear/revulsion for some exaggerated/imagined external threat is an old stand-by for tyrants trying to deflect public attention from internal problems and as an excuse to ram thru programs aimed at tighter government control over the populace.”

Ironic, because that is what moonbats and democrats argue (albeit not that well considering how poorly they did at the polls) is being done by the current administration.

It is also what the Palestinian leadership of the early 20th century did regarding the Jewish settlements.  Any wonder why the Arabs got on so well with Hitler?  Any wonder why modern liberals see eye to eye with both?

LOL OCM, I’m not sure exactly what you mean or what is actually won, but it does illustrate the elusiveness of language and its ability to create/define reality.  joint  tune  peace  flag
