  1. Fear of Violence?

I am sorry, but the “youths” are the ones who are threatening both this man’s property and his well-being (again, what if one of those rocks was to hit him?).

Are THEY going to be charged with anything?

    How the mighty have fallen.

  2. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.  This kind of bizarro-world reversed justice is going to completely degrade respect of the law in the law-abiding.

They’re quickly learning by repeated examples of mis-prosecution of victims that the following are the three steps of “dealing with problems”:

    1.  Don the black masks and clothes.
    2.  Locate and beat the living tar out of the criminals.
    3.  Toss the criminals out of vehicles beyond the town’s edge with a threat:  “Come back and we’ll bury your bodies in the swamp.”
    4.  When the lazy constables come around asking questions, trying to identify the low-hanging-fruit for easy charges, nobody saw ANYTHING.

Honestly, how the hell else should honest citizens handle this now?  Crying to the local councils for an Anti-Social Behaviorial Orders (ASBOs) to be issued against the criminals?

    Seriously, Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot, OVER?!

Oh, and once the steps above aren’t enough, you quickly degrade to the three S’s:  Shoot, Shovel, and SHUT UP.

All this because the law itself is encouraging disrespect of the law.  Truly, Bizarro world.

  3. Something worth bearing in mind for English readers. If you are ever in a similar position and the police attempt to bully you into accepting a caution. Tell them to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. Call their bluff. By accepting the caution you end up with a criminal record. You also give the Crown Prosecution Service (aka the criminal protection service) an easy win. I don’t blame the police they are only doing what they are told by the CPS but all too often they convince people to accept the caution because it’s an easy way out.

  4. Those air rifles are nasty. I know. I remember using one to beat the hell out of a friend who was trying to rape my younger sister.

Needless to say, we were no longer friends after that.

  5. What does an ABSO or caution do? Is it probation for a certain time or does a certain number of them result in a misdemeanor? Is it just an official ‘tsk tsk’?

  6. Stormbird the ASBO in theory is like a court order and can put restrictions on where a person can go. Who they can meet with etc. They are largely discredited as most of the violent thugs consider them a badge of honour. The caution is something the police dish out in lieu of a proper conviction by a court. Essentially it says that you “the offender” have admitted your guilt. It stays on your permanent record and you are in essence a criminal. Lots of people are tricked into this by the police. It saves them time and money.

  7. It should be no surprise to anyone whats going on here. In a Statist nation the people must all be made to believe they are in some way criminally guilty of some state offense or another. Be it rule violation or driving offences or simply littering, the people must be shown and to feel to have no respect for the law. Once this collective guilt has been firmly established any new rule or law or statute can be imposed, and as “we” share guilt from past offences then we can harbor no doubt or self righteousness that these “ new” rules are only in our best interest.
And so goes civil society. Welcome to the “HIVE”
