  1. Hell, that should build character in our kids. What a wonderful educational experience for all the kids. I bet they sing Kumbaya and the Internationale at lunch everyday…

But then whom am I to complain. When I went to school we had to wear uniforms, had no free time to asssociate out of class, etc.

Administrators (and fewer them) spoke softly and carried big sticks. Teachers were respected and reffered to as “sir” and “mam”, or your parents would discipline you. The Board of education had a dual meaning.

It seemed to work too, in the long run, especially for the small Florida redneck public highschool I attended.

  2. Ric, in the public schools we didn’t have uniforms, but that system worked in Chicago also. I remember my folks having to sign a permission slip for the school to discipline us.

Now I have to raise all bloody hell to get my kids’ teachers/schools to even CALL me when they are out of line. Frking pathetic.

  3. I was one of the forever bullied kids. When my parents complained the response was something along the lines of"Since she’s “slow” she probably just misunderstood their behavior” The school system NEEDS to crack down on bullies, but this law’s not the way to do it.

  4. I’m betting this law would still protect bullies. It’s the public school way! Sickening.

  5. Well I streched the uniform thing a bit. What we had was a drees code that pretty much mandated long slacks or skirts to the knee’s for girls. Biutton shirts or blouse. You get the picture. hair cut rules, etc. Hence it looked like uniforms.

It was stricter dress and behavior code than most businesses around here have, today....
