  1. Well, the lad may have a future, should he survive the present and his “bright” ideas.

  2. If the kid had died, I would have been one of the first to nominate him for a Darwin award.

The kid is a fricking idiot without a lick of common sense..

    “Hassan?...........Has-san?”

  4. Gotta admire his moxy, tho. Interesting that his teacher proclaimed that spending an entire evening at a local Florida mosque discussing politics was “dangerous and irresponsible!” That teacher has some pretty good insight.

  5. The lad has written an essay explaining his trip. Just remember that it’s excepted and it’s the AP doing the excerpting. Still looks pretty good though. (Yes, I’m cynical after what the NY Slimes did with that soldier’s letter and I don’t expect much from the AP considering their track record.)

  6. Okay now.  Answer this for me:  How in the heck does a 16-year old go unnoticed for an entire night, just “hanging out at the mosque” (yeah, right...)?  And then have the ability to slip out of this country and fly all the way to the freaking Middle East?

Jeez...talk about your responsible parenting.  Not really surprised, tho’.  The nut NEVER falls too far from the tree.

  7. Hmm. Kinda reminds me of the blogosphere’s resident young liberal wannabe “journalist". They’re a dime a dozen, people shut eye

  8. Looking at your link, Jester, I find no comparison.

  9. You didn’t dig deep enough, Stin. But save yourself the trouble and don’t bother.

  10. His school tried to expell him, too.  When asked why by his father, they kind of looked blank.

  11. A future Peter Arnett here, what?

    shut eye

  12. I stopped after I read his “news” posting. I’m not going back.

  13. Arnett wasn’t worth any attention either, if memory serves.

  14. I didn’t know that the school had tried to expell him, Orion. I’d kinda like to hear their explanation ... in 25 words or less.

  15. Well this is an escapade and no mistake! Almost exactly 100 years ago, this is the sort of thing young British scalliwags got up to. I recently finished reading the biography of Sir Richard Burton (the explorer, linguist, author, etc, etc - NOT the actor), and I see that this young man is of a similar type. Bring him home, give him a whacking, say no more about it. If he survives the next few years, he should go far!  LOL
