    As an ex-Navy reactor operator–nuke ET2, RO on the USS Truxtun (CGN-35) for four years–I’m not convinced that the Fukushima plants are that big a disaster. Certainly a bad problem, but so far radiation levels the general public have been exposed to are very minimal. I covered this in a previous post.

    The Fukushima plants are now trash. They will never produce another kilowatt. The irony is that they were scheduled to be shut down this year (2011) anyway.

    The ones to worry about are the workers, the Fukushima 50, who are still trying to contain the damage. They are the ones exposed to excessive radiation. They are the heros who should have any subsequent radiation-related health issues covered.
