  1. Rant for the day - I’m so tired of the dems out there saying Trump wasn’t acquitted because there was ‘no trial’. This is America and unless the rule of law has changed - the defendant does NOT have to prove himself innocent, the prosecution has to prove him guilty. The House was suppose to Investigate, get all of the witnesses and Evidence together to make their case for guilt. Even in the Clinton ‘trial’ - all of the witnesses and evidence were from the House Investigation - not brought in by the Senate.

The dems wouldn’t try to get the people that they wanted (they pulled the subpoenas because they didn’t want to go to court (probably because they would be denied) and simply thought that they could brow beat the Senate into doing their work.

Obviously - there wasn’t enough to sway anyone other than Never Trumper Romney into voting for convicting. If the dems had had a case, stuck with it to the bitter end - and then gone to the Senate - maybe then they would have a leg to stand on with this ‘not a trial’ nonsense. Otherwise, suck it up. Once again, you failed.

  2. There was a trial. No, it was not a Perry Mason courtroom drama. It was not OJ and the dancing Itos.

The House collected what evidence they felt was necessary and gave it to the Senate. They did NOT give all the testimony that they received; only the testimony of 17 of the 18 people they interviewed. The Senate read this data and rendered a judgement. That is what they were supposed to do. Had there been any actual criminal charges, things may have been different. Had the House said “We’ve done this much investigation, which leads us to believe that there is sufficient evidence to convict, but hear is a list of 287 other people whose statements may help” things may have been different. They did not do this.

What they - the House - did do, was to collect the statements of 18 people’s opinions, none of which were witness to the event in question. But they only delivered 17. What they did do, was to create spurious charges out of thin air that amounted to nothing. What they did do, was ignore every aspect of American jurisprudence that they could. It was a sham and a kangaroo court star chamber from the get-go, and the Senate treated it as such, giving it only minor credence for PR and to let the Dems bury themselves even deeper. That the Senate vote was entirely along party lines (Romney is a leftist elitist and worse, so he doesn’t count as a Republican now or ever IMO) shows the nature of this entire event: it was political vengeance and nothing more. And then to have the Leftist talking heads (schumer etc) afterwards cry how this was illegitimate ... because the babies pitched a years long tantrum and STILL didn’t get their way ... is pathetic.
