  1. That’s why they’ve never been invaded.  It’s one thing to fight a standing army but it’s another to fight armed citizens defending their homeland.  Just look what a handful of Jews did to the mighty German Army in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII.

  2. Got that right. Only reason the Japanese didn’t sieze the west coast here was because Admiral Yamamoto knew there was a “a rifle behind every blade of grass”.

Maybe, just maybe, they understand what a citizen’s militia is in Switzerland. Though I’d be happier if that ammo number was 70 million rounds per week or month, not per year.

Very refreshing article. Thanks. I only wish it could truthfully say, instead of 90 guns per 100 Americans, that 90 out of 100 Americans owned guns. And competed regularly, at 300 meters targets, like the Swiss. I’m jealous ... imagine if, no matter where you lived, most of your neighbors were competitive shooters.

  3. I occasionally spent a week or two in Neuchatel Switzerland, population ~31,000, on business.
Many times I saw men in the train stations going to or coming from military training, and they thought nothing of laying four or five automatic rifles on top of their duffel bags on the platform while they stepped away for a coffee.

One day walking down the street with a Swiss colleague, we encountered a man in a uniform with a pistol on his hip.  When I asked my colleague about this, he said “That’s our policeman.” I did a double take - policeman, singular?

My Swiss friend smiled and told me to follow him, and we walked into the parking lot for the post office, where he pointed out that the 10-12 cars parked there were all unlocked with keys in the ignition.

That’s what a no-diversity, armed, educated, democratic Western civilization buys you; civilized living.

  4. It’s too bad Switzerland had to join the UN...that means they’re a target now too, but at least their citizens are armed.

  5. This was a no-brainer...the Swiss. If I’m not mistaken, and I could be, the Swiss are REQUIRED to maintain their ASSAULT weapons at home, and to show up properly armed WITH ammo.

Gotta love the Swiss, they’re neutral in almost anything, (not even sure if the Swiss are part of the EU) but God help an invader, ‘cause the Swiss won’t.

The Swiss model of militia needs to be encouraged here in these United States.

  6. Interesting that this article mentions canton Zug. This is the canton where the rich people go - it’s the one with the lowest income tax! (Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.)

The citizens of Zug are also sending a message to the international dole-scroungers that they won’t be welcome. Gotta keep those taxes low… clap

Not to mention a grenade, a machine gun, a bazooka, a Sherman tank.... ;)

  8. Chris. Switzerland is an associate member of the EU which means they get all the good parts and don’t have to sign up to all the crap. Same for Norway and Iceland. Oh and coincidentally these countries are all outperforming the rest of the EUroweenies.
