‘Europe’ brings down the bird that set it free.  (Fraken Idiots!)

  1. Could it be the New Socialist Ruling Party of the EU doesn’t want even ONE reminder of how many times we’ve freed their sorry asses? Why they try so damn hard to bring negative emotional response to the existence of the US of A?

  2. Maybe, maybe not. I think it’s because these planes aren’t up to specs for modern commercial use. I’d like to read more about it, but Peiper put in the wrong link.

The link he posted redirects to a news story about the Chinese building Mugabe a mansion, and the current state of affairs in several african nations: all the tin pot dictators are propped up by the Chinese, who do a bit of road building in exchange for exclusive contracts for the minerals and oil those countries have. Excellent link, worthy of a post all by itself, but it has nothing to do with the old airplane story.

And the “making no distinction between giant airliners and small vintage aircraft “ part has to be a misinterpretation somehow. Or else the EU is also putting all small aircraft out of the business of carrying passengers? Because you can’t fit all that stuff in a Cessna. Maybe the rules say that any aircraft rigged to carry X passengers has to have this equipment ... and the DC-3 is big enough to meet the X limit, so it has to make spec. While there may be “joyride” caveats in the rules that would allow paid rides at airshows, it probably is a good thing to put these seriously tired old planes out to pasture.

  3. Would that they could build NEW ones, turboprop type variant. The DC3 was (and still is, old or not!) one hell of a workhorse. Using basically the same old blueprints, but way updating the materials, and all fresh new construction. cheese
